The Lost Temple Of Yumiko
Trapp'd Northampton
Escape room
IRL
Whoever designed this room thinks like we do & we got off to a flying start! The decor is unusual, exciting & bang on theme- it’s really immersive throughout despite there being different zones. With a mixture of physical, skill & mental puzzles, good communication is a must if you want to do well in this room. Loved the variety of tasks (& fact there was only 1 padlock!) & whilst we supposedly fell into a couple of common traps, overall this was one of the most enjoyable rooms we’ve done in a very long time. Love, love, loved it!
A Sógun Árnyéka [The Shogun’s Shadow]
Mystique Room
Escape room
IRL
This was the first room we did at Mystique & it opened our eyes to how well their themed sets would be. Starting in a Japanese garden you will make your way into the building…if you search carefully enough to find the clues you need to do so. Searching is key throughout & there were several novel hiding places along the way. With lots of locks this game kept the 2 of us busy throughout.

Amazing set design, it is very in keeping with the story from the book. This set evolves in all direction from what initially appears to be one room to an amazing set making brilliant use of the space around you. There are ladders & narrow steep stairs to climb up & down & you will have to separate and communicate well with other team members to resolve some puzzles. I adored the moving mushrooms & the tea party area, they were just so fun & a world away from set design we’ve seen elsewhere- which to be fair seems to be a trademark of Mystique which sets them apart from other companies.
Az Escobar Ház [House Of Escobar]
Locked Room Aroom Budapest

Amazing 4d design. You need to be physically able to complete this room as it involves ladder type stairs, but wow, what a room! You start outside in the street & will have to work out how to enter the target premises, which appears to be a normal house. From there you begin a journey into the murky world of drug production & distribution…
Kalóz Öböl [Pirate Bay]
Mystique Room
Escape room
IRL
We booked this on a whim whilst there as the other rooms we did at Mystique we so good. With really strong themes & set designs, these rooms are a must if you’re nearby- after all, how many chances do you get to explore a 3 storey pirate ship in an escape room?! There is a lot of moving round this set, from the dockside to the belly of the ship, the upper deck & the crow’s nest- so the ability to climb/descend ladders & crawl about is a must and if you don’t like heights of any kind you may want to think twice about this game. The props and puzzles were in keeping with the theme & we were left in awe of Mystique’s set building skills as they’re like nothing we’d ever seen in the UK. In addition that that, the exchange rate meant that the Hungarian rooms were scarily cheap compared to English ones, making a whole escape trip to do 15 rooms (including carefully selected flights, accommodation, food & escape rooms) cheaper than if we’d done 15 rooms in the UK.
Metró [Metro]
Locked Room Aroom Budapest
Escape room
IRL
The set for this is amazing & it’s in my top 10 rooms of all time. They make really good use of the space available & it’s well decorated with puzzles that are bang on for the theme. Language wasn’t a barrier & although there was some climbing about, it wasn’t overly physically exerting. There’s a rush scenario near the end to chivvy you along & which provides a bit of extra drama & excitement, and will add to the challenge no matter what team size you have. Any more than 4 would probably struggle to fit in here, but this was great for a pair & would easily fit 3.
Dreamscape
Cryptology Rooms
Escape room
IRL
Wow. Just wow. The theme of this ‘room’ isn’t like any other we’ve done- it’s more like the Crystal Maze with zones where you have to collect ‘dream keys’. The rooms within this room have really different themes and require totally different attributes/skill sets from the players which means there’s something for everyone, & you can’t help but wonder what’s coming next as you progress. Searching, counting, cooking (yes, cooking!!!) there’s so much to do here! The finale is tailored to your group size which makes this behemoth of an experience do-able for a pair, with a physically challenging finale of fun. Absolutely brilliant fun, lots of variety & easily one of my top 10 venues to date.
Rameseize
Cryptology Rooms
Escape room
IRL
I loved this room which has a rustic Egyptian feel. It replaced The Crypt when Cryptology moved venues but had largely different puzzles throughout so still felt different & exciting. There some crawling about but was nicely done & a fun way to spend time stargazing indoors. The aim of the game is to solve the puzzles & collect three relics, which was challenging but achievable as a pair.
The Magic Emporium
Escape Lincoln Sessions House
Escape room
IRL
Really strong theme & superb decor. If you like Harry Potter or wizardry themes this is for you! Totally different to the Witchcraft & Wizardry room at Escape Skeg, so don’t be out off if you’ve done that one, there’s still plenty of new stuff to experience here. You’ll need keen observational skills, to do some searching & basic maths.
Chronos
Escapologic® Leicester
Escape room
IRL
If you love steampunk, this is the room for you! You’re sent back in time to change events & stop the Chronos virus taking over the world. This trip takes you to Victorian times & an olde worlde lab to undertake your task. Once again, the set is really well put together with a clue delivery system that is so well thought out & in keeping with the room that it’s one of my all time favourites. This has a memorable physical puzzle towards the start, but also involves searching, logic & observational puzzles along the way. I’m bided because I loved the theme & look of the room so much, but even if it weren’t for that, I think I’d still have loved this room.
