Get there early to find a parking spot as it can be challenging.

I really liked this game! The location has a really fun and immersive atmosphere, from beginning to end. The game fit well within the overarching building story, and did a good job of tying its individual story throughout. Clues were challenging but not impossible (pay close attention, close reading can be important)! There are a lot of decorative elements that some may consider red herrings, but to me it was largely clear what was relevant and what wasn’t. There were some game flaws, but our guide was always right on top of it and assisted on the one or two times something didn’t quite work automatically. It didn’t take anything out of the experience because he was so attentive.

I did Smuggler's Den, Inventor's Attic, and Jazz Parlor. They were my 71, 72, and 73rd escape rooms, respectively. I can't say these were the best rooms I have ever done (that honor belongs to a room in Amsterdam), but they were pretty close. They are definitely must-do's if you are an enthusiast and live in the United States. The thing Escape My Room does better than any other room is create an atmosphere where everything fits together as part of a broader story. From how you enter, to what you do in the sitting room while you wait, to orientation, to the walk to the room, to the room itself, and the photos at the end--everything flowed seamlessly. It's as immersive as it gets. The rooms themselves were almost flawless. There was very little I would do differently, and even those would come down to preference and not necessarily make the rooms any better. The rooms are non-linear for the most part, but you always know what you should be doing even if it takes you some time to figure out how to do it. And there are several a-ha moments (always a good thing). I prefer them in reverse order of the way we did them--the rooms kept getting better. Five full stars easy. PS. David was an awesome game master.

Do this room first and then later do The Inventor’s Attic. This room is great (love the attention to detail and distinctive New Orleans elements) and worth your time. Love a local, well-designed room!

This room was pretty good, but I felt like we did ourselves a disservice by playing inventor’s attic first as it’s a much more immersive and impressive experience. This room felt a little outdated at times, but is still worth playing if you’re in the area!

Really well themed room for New Orleans, with good set design and a diversity of puzzles. This is better for smaller groups of 4-6 and the puzzles are challenging so don’t do this room if you’re a newbie. Save it to enjoy when you’re more experienced.

I don’t get this room…. Like. I wanted to get it but I didn’t. It was boring, slow, and puzzles were not fun. It’s a murder mystery room but by the end of the game. I felt the victim deserved it.

Maybe it was the theme but there was something missing about this game to make it stronger. A classic murder mystery but older built. Not kept up to standard with props and items and even lacking a little music to the adventure. Not a bad room by any means but just not my cup of tea. Strong points of this game are the changes of scenery.

I love how EMR builds their rooms to be continuations in a large story about the Delaporte family. They all tie together, and as you play the other rooms you find connections to where you’ve been. This is the 2nd room in the series. Some really cool tech in the room, and we missed a lot when playing it because there’s so much.
“Newer players will likely find Jazz Parlor challenging, but not impenetrable. Be patient. “
