109 escape rooms
Indiana Jones Cryptic is dubbed an “escape room” game, and it most closely resembles the Exit tabletop games with a little pinch of Box One. The game features 3 adventures in one, following the original Indiana Jones trilogy movies. There are only about 5-7 puzzles in each adventure, and they’re not too hard. But I really like when it uses parts you wouldn’t expect to form surprise 3D crafts that feel more authentic to a physical escape room experience. There are also these weird pathways puzzles, which is really just a test of your ability to imagine a pathway and draw it using a clear overlay sheet. It’s not actually that fun, but we did it anyways for kicks. There is no timer, but you get to collect coins based on how well you solve puzzles, and you can spend coins to get hints. We collected coins, but mostly ignored the glory points because we just wanted to have a chill, fun time. If you know the movies, the narrative will feel familiar and may even help you solve the puzzles. Even if you haven’t seen Indy, the game is a fun but short and not as packed family-oriented tabletop escape adventure with kids in mind. Mostly recommended for fans of the series and those looking for an officially licensed game similar to Exit. What’s nice about this too compared to Exit is that you don’t destroy or cut any pieces so it’s resettable and technically replayable. The production quality is nice so it would be a shame to throw it away afterward.
