During an excavation project, a mysterious door to an Egyptian tomb has been unearthed. We have learned the door that has been discovered is a gateway to a curse that will unleash darkness upon the world. A top-secret military department has now constructed a device around the gate to protect the world from the powers that lie beyond its threshold. With every minute that passes by, the device grows weaker as the curse becomes stronger. Now we must crack the code, enter the tomb, and finally put the curse to rest.

I enjoyed the atmosphere immensely, from the sound design to the lighting, it all fit. A mixture of tech and mechanical puzzles, it had a good mix of things and a lot of great payout from solving puzzles that are largely due to the cool effects. Our game master Brandon was very cool and talked to us a ton about the background and answered all of the questions we had!
They really took advantage of their effects from the lights to the sounds

Game was really great! Loved everything about it. Another great room for 13th hour. Was skeptical at first because of the mixed reviews but had a really great time. The effects were really cool and I didnt think the puzzles required large leaps in logic to complete as some reviews may have said. Overall would recommend to anyone looking for a great escape room.

At the time I played the room, there were lots of broken puzzles. Leaps in logic were required to solve them. But the room has potential to be really good. Effects were amazing. The staff at the time said some of the puzzles were in the process of being redone.
It was novel, but didn’t flow

This room has so much potential, but there were just so many things that didn't perform well technically for me to really enjoy it. The effects and sounds were truly amazing, but it was really hard to appreciate these when things were failing mechanically or just not performing optimally. Two puzzles in particular were legitimately near impossible for us to read, and even going over it with the gamemaster after finishing did not help clear things up at all. It was a miracle we were able to get past these two through sheer guess and check alone. The last lock box straight malfunctioned right at the start too which was anti-climactic. I want to reiterate, this room could legitimately be a 10/10 room if these technical issues could be resolved, but as is, it ends up being a frustrating experience wrapped in beautiful effects.

This was a well-themed escape room with more than its share of jankiness and logical flaws. There were a few numbers that were hard to read and lights that weren’t working as expected that slowed us down and led to frustration — that said, our GM was great and even came into the room to help after it became obvious that the hints weren’t helping.

The set was amazing. The puzzles were a mix of tech and mechanical.

13th Hour is well known for their horror-themed rooms linked by the Hayden family mythology. The fact that they have a couple of rooms outside the genre, means that these might pale in comparison to that shared universe. But as a stand-alone room, based on the Stargate saga, the Gate has its own kind of uniqueness to offer. The set was interesting and captured the Stargate vibe. Fans will appreciate it, but prior knowledge is not required. Gameplay included a mix of hi tech and layered puzzling that required searching, observing, and making connections. There’s a lot of game here as our team of four experienced players took almost the full hour to complete it. If you like sci-fi, good scenery, interesting puzzles, and you’ve played enough horror, then try The Gate and tell them you found it on Morty!

13th Hour doesn’t have a lobby like most escape rooms, and they are spread out across a light industrial campus. In haunt season, it can get confusing with so much going on there. So you will need to be directed to your room, ask for help upon arrival.

After completing many other escapes at 13th hour this room doesn’t share the same overall theme and detail as their other rooms. The Stargate theme was fun for a science fiction fan like me. Puzzles were good and set design too. Completed the room with just the two of us. We had fun playing but definitely a lighter, easier room for that location.

I liked the stargate theming of the room, but game elements felt very slapdash. The first puzzle was broken which made starting a very frustrating experience and colored the rest of the room.
