Did this one with my in laws! It was their first time doing one and they really enjoyed the room. Especially the fact that it was like a murder mystery! Well done and clue we’re cohesive and led to the right direction

39 escape rooms

Didn’t feel like much of an escape room more like a murder mystery jammed into one room. Not saying it wasn’t fun but it was a bit jammed back and story line was hard to follow at times.

Gameplay

Truly felt like there needed to be more here. The overall idea was great and I liked the setting but this being just one room with way too much shoved into one room.

The Murder of 89 isn’t an escape room. It’s a who dunnit room. That’s not to say it’s bad, my friends and I enjoyed it and we made got the answer with one minute to spare. The Atmosphere matched the theme great. The staff is wonderful as well. I recommend this room for anyone to try out.

Gameplay

It’s not a theme based on escaping, but a who done it scenario. You have to solve a murder, which is a fine as the challenge is good and adds tension to get it right and not just escape.

Atmosphere

As a child from the 1980s they got the design right, also feeling a bit cliché of 1980s pop culture.

Customer service

Staff and game masters are great.

Physically active

Not at all

Is the standard moving around a room and solving puzzles.

I did this room for my 17th birthday and it was the first room I ever did! the puzzles are a nice challenge, not too easy but also not too hard to solve. if you’re feeling nostalgic or want to experience what living in the 80’s feels like with a little murder mystery twist id definitely recommend it! I will say im a bit biased because it started off an unhealthy obsession with escape rooms

Gameplay

the game flows really nice, there are three paths in the room and each path is labeled pretty clearly, there is also a set goal

Atmosphere

it definitely felt like a time capsule of a teenage girls bedroom

Customer service

the staff is very warm and welcoming

Particularly interesting or different

Yes

the murder mystery theme had you really immersed in the story, along with the atmosphere its a very good immersive experience

Story

you never really forget about the premise due to it being a murder mystery and being able to guess the killer just keeps you glued onto what’s happening in the room

Difficulty

Medium

the room fits 2-6 players and I feel like there would be a major difference between the amount of people. if youre more experienced the less people the better, if youre newer id recommend 4-6

Game tech

Mechanical

only a few techie functions in the room the rest is more manual which I feel helps set up the atmosphere like a real investigation

Ideal number of players

4

4 is the sweet spot no matter the experience level

Scary

Not scary

nothing really scary, one or two of the tech functions may startle you but its not scary

Minimum age

11

10 or 11 is the golden target for a room like this, its not too hard but the older components may have younger kids asking what a cassette tape is or even a VHS tape. reading comprehension is also important for this room

Was anything broken?

No

Live actors

No

Physically active

Not at all

its a bedroom setting, its only one room

Accessibility

only 1 big color puzzle, everything else is pretty good about accessibility

I had a lot of fun playing this with friends and family, the puzzles made sense to the story and we had a lot of fun unraveling the truth behind the murder of roxxy. The incentive to put the right person behind bars (accuse them) instead of just escaping was a nice twist. Felt like a huge game of clue!

I would say this room is suitable for people of younger ages. As long as you love clue you’ll love this room.
