What exactly is a Quest? Probably the most exhilarating experience you’re going to have outside of your home with a group of people! OK, we know that didn’t answer your question exactly, but still it’s true. Complicated to explain; you need to just experience it! Go to the “What is Questing” section of this site for more info. It’s like nothing you’ve ever done in your entire life, and there’s literally nothing to compare it to, so it’s hard to explain. It’s somewhat like you, along with a small team, trying to do the types of things Indiana Jones or Laura Croft might do in a movie…except it’s real. The best way, by far, is to go do it. After that, we’ll let you try and explain it. Here’s what Questing is not: it’s not an Escape Room of any type, it’s not virtual reality or augmented reality, or anything that gives digital environments, it’s not anything to do with using a computer to play games, it’s not obstacle course racing, it’s not anything athletic or competitive, and it’s not anything that requires a certain level of education.

I love Boda borg - I’ve been many time, Boda Borg is escape room adjacent but not like a normal escape room. The whole ethos is learning through failing - I’ve spent about 60 hours here and still haven’t seen all the rooms!
We love this place, so hard! It’s not a traditional escape room by any means, but it’s so fun

Overall a great concept. Some rooms we weren’t sure if it was tech related or us. Hated not having a click but realize it is part of the experience. Overall a great time.
Overall it’s a great concept. Not many people available if you wanted a clue. Some rooms we questioned if it was us or a tech failure. Overall good time.

Lots of physical challenges which were fun. The rooms can be frustrating until you start to get a feel for how the game works. Lots of trial and error

In concept, Boda Borg is exceptional: numerous escape room-esque challenges that you choose to do as many times as you want. At its best, Boda Borg offers deeply immersive set design that envelops you in a world and then forces you to think outside the box and communicate effectively. At its worst, it presents you tedious puzzles with unreliable tech that makes you wonder if the failure is performative (yours), mechanical (the tech’s), or conceptual (the designer’s). Overall, Boda Borg quests are very good, but I can’t whole-heartedly give this a heart when quite a few rooms have lazy design and/or non-cooperative tech. Boda Borg does teach teams that (as Yoda once said) “the greatest teacher failure is.” For people who have the patience, mental wherewithal, and physical stamina, Boda Borg is a unique and memorable experience. Is it perfect? No. But isn’t the notion of perfection something that Boda Borg rails against conceptually?

Boda Borg is a highly unique experience, although some facilities have emulated their game structure in some sense. Their quests are like mini escape rooms, with the major difference being the highly physical nature of some of the challenges. While I prefer level99, boda Borg innovated this style of gameplay, and it is worth checking out for at least one visit
While some games are frustrating, there is a lot of unique gameplay contained within the facility.
A bit spartan, but some quests (Alcatraz, Potions) are quite visually pleasing.
While the workers aren’t supposed to give hints, you can occasionally get a piece of helpful info.
Some of the games have self contained stories, nothing particularly complex.
Hard
The rooms can be frustrating, but tend to have a logical way of moving forward. The physical challenges can occasionally be very difficult.

Like level99, some challenges are easier with more people and some are more challenging.
Spooky
One room is relatively upsetting with jumpscares and violent imagery.

This is pretty much an escape room crossed with an obstacle course, and it’s the best thing to exist. It’s the most replayable experience in the escape room world, and like nothing you’ve ever seen. There are more mysteries hidden inside this complex than anything else in the world. For the best experience, your team should be physical enough to climb, crawl, and jump. It’s an amazing experience that you need to book now, and there’s only one reason I’m keeping this review short. In Boda Borg, the less you know going into it, the better.
Challenges were intricately designed for maximum enjoyment, and they succeeded.
It looks like an average escape room. Some rooms look a lot better than others, but remember that they have over 60 rooms to design.

Completely different than any other venue to exist. Most replayable place I’ve ever been to.
There’s not really any story, but that’s not the point of the experience.

Often takes multiple hours to beat a Quest. This isn’t because the Quests are long, but rather they are extremely hard to figure out.

3 to 6 is the allowable range, and some Quests benefit from more or less people.
Spooky
The sterile halls, quiet-ish environment and foreboding beeps make for a slightly eerie environment. One Quest is horror themed, but it’s creepy at best.
9
Often, a moderate level of physicality and brainpower is required.
Yes
This place has the most tech out of any venue I’ve seen. Things are bound to break. At max, one or two Quests will be broken, and even so, there’s over 20 other ones to try.

Some rooms require more physicality than others, but for the best experience, all players should be able to jump, crawl, and climb. Some of the more physical rooms get really intense to the point where they are comparable to American Ninja Warrior courses.
The majority of Quests will require some extent of jumping, crawling, climbing, or balancing.

On vacation in Boston I took my extended family to Boda Borg. A few of them were skeptical at first but eventually laughing hysterically and working hard to solve the tougher puzzles. After a half day there, everyone agreed it was a “must do” if ever in the area. I wish there were more locations in the US! Super fun for all of us (aged 32-60) given the varied rooms.

What an amazing experience. So many different rooms with different themes! Highly recommend! Some physical challenge rooms! Overall a really fun time! Could spend the whole day there!

Failure is an important part of Boda Borg’s culture. Because you pay for time and not for specific quests, you can repeat quests over and over until you solve them, and nothing is quite as satisfying as FINALLY realizing the answer to a room. There’s also a variety of physical and mental quests, so there’s at least a handful of quests for every kind of person.
