“My first pitch black experience and this wont be my last! We LOVED the pitch black room. Its not a typical escape room as they heavily rely on audio cues. Would recommend a smaller group and friends that you are close with as often times you will accidentally running into them. Great for couples. I wish they had more dark experiences!”

“This room is so cute! Very well designed room with so much care put into the story. Loved how gen 2/3 this room was and had really cool usage of tech. While this might be a touch on the easier side for bigger groups, I think this is satisfyingly challenging for groups of 2-3 and/or newer enthusiasts. GM’s were sweet and would love to try out their other rooms on my next trip to San Fran. :)”

“Great game! The set design and puzzles were fantastic. We really enjoyed the extra details as well. There is so much to like about it. I’m really glad we were able to put together six people to meet the minimum.”

“Very fun and competitive room! I really like the Omescape Sunnyvale location. It's one of their newest location and has a great amount of space for their rooms. Each room I've played here so far has great production design and area size. I loved the team vs team concept. There have been other escape rooms where head to head means starting two identical room at the same time. That may be fun, but this is definitely where it's at. I love loved that you can "sabotage" the other team in various ways. And the GM is in and out of the game too. It helps add another layer of immersion to the game. Really fun, really competitive, great space & design. If you don't go over the game with the other group you go against. You can play again as the other group. So, you can potentially play this room twice to do a whole different set of puzzles. I highly recommend it.”

“This game had me in the zone and sweating as much as I expect I would in a real kitchen. We played as a team of 4 and had a great time, once we got through the initial understanding of how the room worked. One negative with this room is that the gap between the introduction and really understanding what you have to do in the room is pretty wide. It took us way too long to get actually started and I don't fault our team for that, I fault the introduction process.”

“This is a GREAT room especially for younger players, but keep in mind the puzzles aren’t easy. The environment is incredibly immersive and fun and playful and will be super fun for younger kids the puzzles will be way over their heads and will require adult brains. There are also a lot of puzzles so the longer play time will be necessary. This room made my top 10 it is immersive, whimsical, challenging, great puzzles and technology. The addition of the live actor was also cool and added to the difficulty of the room. Highly recommend.”

Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
