“Very tech heavy game which was so unique!!! Very stranger things vibes mixed with alien which I loved. Puzzles were so unique. Sometimes flow can feel off but staff was very friendly with their hints and nudges. Very immersive and great experience highly recommend.”

“I really enjoyed the massive space used to make this game. It’s super fun and very tech heavy game. Our game master Antonius did an amazing job guiding us on the right path so went didn’t get stuck in the avalanche.”

“Definitely challenging with two people as there is a lot to get through. We were a bit slow getting started, so we had to rush through the end. But we had so much fun. Rooms aren’t private, so we booked last minute to make sure it was just us, and I’m so glad we did.”

“Overall it was an amazing room! It was a little frustrating that we asked for no nudges unless it’s something completely obvious that maybe we didn’t notice- like a door opening for example that maybe we didn’t notice. What happens, a door opens and we walked around for 15 minutes not understanding! It was quite annoying, especially since we were going so quick and actually gave them the example! They also mentioned that another puzzle is so particular that if not done perfectly precise, it won’t trigger - if that is the case and it’s a brand new game, it should be fixed! The other issue is that these games are public and can hold up to 8 people. Huge issue on this as 1) there is not enough things to do for 8 people 2) the rooms are physically not big enough for 8 people. I can’t believe that they offer these rooms as public, especially when they will allow late entries to your game after it starts. HUGE issue with that. They offer to book the game private, but it will double your price and is totally not worth it. These games are only worth it if you have your core group and they don’t let other people join. It really ruins the experience and becomes a waste of money.”

“Overall a really fun game. I can’t imagine 8 people being allowed to do this at one time - especially if you don’t know the other people. The room is just not big enough. It seems to be a reoccurring theme with this location. This room can hold a maximum of 6 people. Puzzle wise, no more than maybe even 5. Haven’t done all the rooms at this location, but it seems that most of their rooms can only hold about 6 people max. Not worth the money if you get put with other people or have to book the private room. The cost does not balance out the amount of gameplay. Otherwise a fun room and would recommend.”

“Very unique and interesting theme, major props to set design, like walking into a cartoon studio. More puzzle-orientated. The GM, Tuesday, is very charismatic and welcoming, very passionate about her job.”

“Solid! So much fun! While there was nothing mind-blowing about this one, it's our favorite type of escape room: good production design, and solid, fun gameplay. So many fun moments, and immersive enough to feel like we were transported briefly. A great time!”

“Few rooms manage to have the trifecta of elegant puzzle design, intriguing story, and immersive set design like “Whatever Happened to the Garretts?” The room is completely devoid of red herrings. Everything uses real-world logic in a satisfying way. The solves are clean and thoughtful. The story is dynamic and engaging without relying on text or tremendous amounts of monologue. The set opens up in surprising and delightful ways. This room has mastered the balance between struggle and satisfaction. It’s a masterclass in design. Play this immediately!”

“A real sleeper and the best room at this Maze Rooms location. One of the more clever starts to a room that I’ve experienced, and the way the story progresses is fun and highly immersive. Some slight, unrealistic gore, but the room isn’t too scary and as a bonus, it’s full of Easter eggs, especially for Evil Dead/Army of Darkness fans! Worth playing, for sure!”

“A little different take on an escape room but still very fun, didn’t disappoint! The puzzles are unique and fit the theme very well. Also love the attention to detail put in by the creator, lots of Easter eggs and historically accurate pieces”

“Lots of fun! The room was creative and pretty well maintained. Looked like it would be good for kids, but it had some clever, "think outside the box" puzzles so don't underestimate it! Our game master was helpful and we only needed two clues, so overall a fairly easy room that you could easily do with just 2 people. Will be trying their other rooms!”

“I really liked this room a lot, it is my favorite room at this location. I think the set was amazing and when I thought we were done, there was more to do. The puzzles are simple but fun, 2 of us got out with about 18 minutes to spare.”

“Do you like I keeping Earth safe from zany aliens while wearing black? Then this mission is for you! Puzzles are part of the set, it’s a fun place to explore, and the lobby is lovely. Best for groups of 6 or less. Then go watch the movies!”

While Hollywood boasts some the most famous attractions in the world, it is LA’s Westside that arguably showcases the soul of the city. From the beach cities of Santa Monica and Venice, to glamorous Beverly Hills, the Westside offers a wide array of experiences for all to behold, including some of the city’s best escape rooms. If art and architecture is your passion, The Getty Center is a must visit. Or if a relaxing day of shopping and high-end cuisine gets you excited, then the Third Street Promenade might be for you.
Escape rooms have found a loving home on LA’s Westside. Since the first escape rooms arrived in Los Angeles in 2016, the film capital of the United States hasn’t stopped crafting these immersive puzzle experiences. In fact, Los Angeles proper is home to 49 different escape room venues and LA’s Westside offers a particularly exciting array of escape room experiences that are suitable for all tastes. 60 Out’s The Mystery of Senator Payne has been a fan favorite for years, and won a 2016 Golden Lock award. Maze Room’s Whatever Happened The Garretts is another hit with avid players and sure to provide an incredible experience. With over 170 escape games in the entire area, the possibilities are nearly endless — you’ll find games with themes of horror, adventure, crime, espionage, and plenty you may not expect.
Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
