The Experiment
Room 5280 - Seattle
Escape room
IRL
Starting off, the location is not accessible for small children, strollers, older individuals, etc. as you have to find the entrance at the back of the building with no available elevator. The four of us decided to do “the experiment” as we all have a science background. Of course this room had no science related puzzles until the very last objective (which understandably didn’t require science knowledge), it was more math than science. This was a minimalist single room. Sparingly designed. Only a few puzzles that were more time consuming than difficult. The gear wheels were lose so the displayed message was incorrect. The hints given by the game master were unhelpful, telling us what we already knew. If I pay for an escape room and require a hint, I expect you to help us MOVE forward. The storyline was flat and honestly, some say, completely missing. After experiencing other escape rooms, and seeing the positive reviews online and the Morty app, I had high hopes which were distinguished quickly. 20 bucks maybe but 35, no way. Positive thing is there was one musical contraption that required creative engineering. That’s it. For that reason, more experienced players and beginners alike should stay away.
