Ghost Light
Myss Tic Rooms
Escape room
IRL
Both Myss Tic escape rooms are excellent, but the Ghost Light Theatre is my personal favourite. The narrative and presentation are what set it apart. The rooms feel ghostly, but not frightening. Puzzles were fun, and there is an absolutely killer finale. One of the best rooms in New York, (possibly the best).
Montauk Project
Myss Tic Rooms
Escape room
IRL
Both Myss Tic escape rooms have some of the highest production value in New York. The Montauk Project is a must for Stranger Things enthusiasts. Personally I’ve never watched the show, so most of the references were lost if me, but the room was a blast all the same. Highly recommend!

Alice In Wonderland
Rush Escape Game St Kilda
Escape room
IRL
A horror twist on Alice in Wonderland. There are no jump scares/restraints/dark rooms like some of Rush’s other rooms, but there are elements of gore. They’ve done a top notch job with the theming, and the puzzles were all high quality.
Playground
The Escape Game - New York
Escape room
IRL
I proposed in this room. My girlfriend and I had done every other The Escape Game room in New York,( and two in DC), so I knew all their rooms are of the highest production value. Shout out to Alec for helping me organise before hand, and Justin for running our session on the day. We arranged for a “Will You Marry Me” sign to pop up with the final McGuffin. As for the game itself, it was excellent, although I was a little distracted and my partner ended up solving most of the puzzles. When the ending came, she was so obsessed with getting out of the room and stopping the clock that she ran right past the sign, and I had to drag her back in. She said yes, and the team was nice enough to give us a little extra prize to take home.
Gold Rush
The Escape Game - New York
Escape room
IRL
Gold Rush features the typical high quality to be expected from a The Escape Game room. The puzzles are all fair,(except for one involving hand eye coordination and a steady finger). The narrative is a light hearted fun, and the finale is a blast!
Prison Break
The Escape Game - New York
Escape room
IRL
This is the best implementation of a Prison Break style room I’ve seen. Like every The Escape Game room, the theming, narrative and puzzle design is absolutely top notch. It can reasonably be beaten by two people as long as you are comfortable yelling to communicate.

Mission Escape Games
Escape room
IRL
This room is an absolute blast. You can feel a lot of Cyberpunk influence has gone into the design, (I was most reminded of the Deus Ex series, or System Shock). There is some very high production quality in this room, and some knockout puzzles. Mission Escape Games best room by far
The Nine-Nine
Rush Escape Game Hawthorn
Escape room
IRL
We did this room in a group of 4, with 2 escape room newbies. It’s packed with Brooklyn Nine Nine references, although the level of effort gone into the theming is less than the other Rush escape rooms we’ve played. Overall the puzzle difficulty was on the easier side, and we were able to rush through the room.
The Forgotten Son
Expedition Sydney
Escape room
IRL
What a room! The theming is classically Australian. There are a few fun spooky moments and minor jump scares to watch out for. While we fumbled on the very last puzzle and weren’t able complete the room in time, we felt the puzzles were ultimately fair.
Mission 01: Cyberbot
Beat the Bomb
Escape room
IRL
I’ve played Beat the Bomb twice, and ended up covered in paint twice. It’s more frantic than a regular escape room, and I definitely recommend stretching beforehand, particularly if you are like me and your limbo game is weak.
