The Edison Escape Room
Palace Games
Escape room
IRL
This room is highly touted for good reason. I did it in a group of 3; I'd recommend 4, maybe 5. I dont think this would be anywhere near as fun for 8. The puzzles are very linear, but it's fun, collaborative, and requires physical teamwork. My biggest qualm is there are unprompted clues built into the room! Even so, the tech is innovative (won't spoil much else), and the puzzle types are very diverse. It's physically challenging (not forceful) too, which I enjoyed very much.

Incredible room! Puzzles were intuitive. There are a lot of puzzles to get through but pacing was really great. I suggest asking for clues if you get hard stuck because theres a surprising number of puzzles. Again, thoroughly impressed with the pacing. Puzzles were diverse; they said it's an intermediate room, and I would agree. Though, past experience of our players definitely came in handy. The theme was fun, and only one puzzle felt out of place / theme. Enjoyed it very much. I played with vets and first-timers and everyone had a good time.
Paradox | The Incredible Time Machine

This room deserves its laurels. The puzzles are great, very diverse, and the logic is intuitive. However, for a good portion of it, the puzzle order is provided for you, and that makes it a bit linear. The website recommends 4 minimum; I think it'd be best with 3 (due to linearity) but good up to 5.
The Attraction

It's an innovative "escape room" for sure. And the tech is incredible. But I don't think it's great for a group larger than 5. It's very linear. Don't get me wrong, everyone in the party participates, but often it's one puzzle at heart (one person figures out the puzzle, and then tells everyone what they need to do). Aside from that, the room is impressive, and the theme is very well executed. It's more of a story, and less of an escape, which is neither good nor bad. Overall, a very positive experience, just don't do it with a large group.
The Curse Of The Black Knight
EscapeX Rooms Irvine

They tell you upfront the room is linear (which had me worried), and everything is used only once. The room is very immersive and tiny. I dont usually like linear rooms but keeping the groups small is perfect for a room like this. I did it in a group of 3, which I think is optimal. I'd say 2 is better than 4 for how small and linear the room is. The puzzles are good and the room is great.

The puzzle order is pretty linear, tho it's hard to tell b/c it presents a lot of the puzzles at once, which I think is a good way to integrate linear solutions. Puzzles are fun and diverse. A decent amount of locks (usually dislike) but the locks are placed intuitively, so you have a good idea of which combos apply to which locks. Overall, a fun premise, and a very engaging room.
The Missing Season

The puzzles were cool and interesting but the linearity and the narration of the room didn't leave a lot for discovery.
Gold Rush

Very combo lock heavy, and some puzzles were not staged optimally. I thought 2-3 puzzles were not intuitive. Set design was great though.

Lara’s Labyrinth - San Diego, CA [prev. Quest Room]

What a fantastic room for San Diego. It's medium difficulty, but a fantastic room. The set design is great, and the puzzle types were very diverse. I chose this room to introduce someone to the world of escape rooms, and Im glad I did. It works for 2 people, I imagine 4 people would be my suggested max for this room, as it can get a bit linear in moments. It's thrilling (no scares) at times too!
Evil Dead 2
Hourglass Escapes
Escape room

An incredible experience! The pacing is great, the puzzles were appropriately challenging for difficulty level, all the puzzles were intuitive. I did it with a group of 6, and the nonlinearity of the room kept everyone engaged and contributing, even while stuck. Fun experience for all experience levels (I was the only veteran)
