Prison Break
The Escape Game DC: Downtown
Escape room
IRL
I am personally not a fan of rooms where there’s zero chance of getting out without clues. There are certain puzzles that are literally impossible to complete without clues and some that even break the cardinal rules of escape rooms (i.e., no breaking things, no climbing, no sticking anything in light sockets, etc.). That said, it was still a nice experience, and some of the puzzles were really great.
The Hot Dog Heist

Escape room

I’ve played all the rooms at Trapology and this was my least favorite. I am personally not a fan of rooms where there’s no way to get out in time without tons of clues and that’s what this was. We were probably given 20+ clues without asking. That said, still an okay room.
The Red Wire
PanIQ Room Boston
Escape room
IRL
I’m just not a fan of this place. It doesn’t seem super well run, they’re not that friendly, and the rooms range from okay to good. There was also a puzzle in The Red Wire that didn’t work as intended, and when we asked for clues, we had to wait 15-30 seconds to get one, like the game master wasn’t watching closely.
Boom Room
Room Escape Boston

Not a good experience. The biggest issue was that the game master was completely inattentive. When we asked for clues, he gave us clues we already figured out. When we escaped and walked out of the room, he was surprised to see us because he wasn’t watching. There was also at least one puzzle that was not well crafted and relied on an ability none of us had.

This is a very simple room, with simple mechanics. All in all, it was decent but there was a portion that required outside knowledge. Not a fan of that.
