The Steampunk ExpressThe Imaginarium: Playground for the Creative MindEscape roomIRLEven with a large group and what seemed like a lot of time on the clock, we felt almost frantically busy the whole way through! There were one or two puzzles where we got a little confused by a lack of verisimilitude in the props, but nothing was broken, we were just being thick, and overall it was an exciting variety of interactions with a lot of satisfying "aha!" moments. The theming was immersive and added to the high-energy excitement.
De Wraak Van Han [Han’s Revenge]De Gouden KooiEscape roomIRLThis was a blast! It’s my personal favourite so far, for a good mix of physical tasks and intellectual puzzles and great pacing toward a climax. The environments were delightful, complex, and immersive. Several wonderful "aha" moments.
Going UndergroundCrime Runners - Branch Alser StrasseEscape roomIRLIt’s easy to see why this one wins awards! We were totally immersed and engaged the whole way through. I’m glad we played all four of their rooms in order almost as a mini history of the development of escape rooms. They were all worth playing but the others would have felt like a bit of a letdown if we’d done this one first.
Mystery at Maryweather MansionLooking Glass AdventuresEscape roomIRLPlayed with three and had a delightful time. Some exciting interactions with the room, which were fun "aha" moments.
University Of Magic: The Entrance ExamLucardo ManchesterEscape roomIRLThis room was very manageable with two and the puzzle pacing was nice; a clear sense of progress and then a crescendo. The puzzles were of a variety of types, some of which were more observational and less satisfying, but they all worked. This might be a good room for folks new to escape rooms or for kids.
The GreenhouseEscape HuntEscape roomIRLFor an escape room enthusiast my overall assessment is lukewarm, but still warm. This was a fun little challenge with a good number of puzzles packed into its rooms. The environment was a little worn out and small, but anything would have felt a little too modest after playing three top TERPECA rooms in a row. The puzzles themselves had some interesting bits, a mix of spotting the environment and doing logic. Probably a good pick for a slightly larger group since it’s not too linear and there’s a very nice lounge with snacks available.
Operation Flamingo – Secret AgentLooking Glass AdventuresEscape roomIRLI played with a friend from Florida and we definitely enjoyed seeing the Canadian interpretation of "Florida" -- though the physical set wasn't as successful at expressing the room's aspirations as in other Looking Glass Adventures rooms. We had fun, but this was my least favourite room at Looking Glass Adventures.
Smuggler's SecretPier PressureEscape roomIRLA really fun room! Not as large and complicated as some of the ones my brother and I have done lately -- our team of two escaped with a good amount of buffer time and no clues -- but it wasn't "too easy". The environment was charming and interesting, and several 'simple' puzzles were made more fun through mechanical contraptions. Some good 'aha' moments when we finally figured out something we'd been stuck on, and a nice flow where you have a good sense of your progress and can bounce between multiple puzzles when stuck.
Escape The DanforthLooking Glass AdventuresEscape roomIRLPlayed this with my brother and we loved it! A nice room for two, and we appreciated the local touches.
