40 ThievesMindTrap Escape Room - TemeculaEscape roomIRLI understand how this has won so many awards. The design and the puzzles are next level, and I was really in awe of the originality. The opening story alone is already genius. Definitely a don't miss for escape room fans!
Winnie The PoohMindTrap Escape Room - MurrietaEscape roomIRLAs a Winnie the Pooh fan, I was so excited when this was announced. My expectations were high considering Mindtrap's reputation and they still surprised me with how wonderful this was! This is a magical adventure for all ages, as long as you're young at heart. Fans of the Milne books will recognize so many beloved Pooh scenes. Anyone new to the Hundred Acre Wood will still enjoy an enchanting easy but clever challenge. Easily one of my best escape room experiences
The Bridge BetweenQuest TavernEscape roomIRLI'm lucky to have teammates who are excellent at puzzles, so I get to appreciate the clever design and solutions while also soaking up the atmosphere. This was our first time at Quest Tavern and we will definitely be back! We loved that the experience begins right when you walk in (much like Ministry of Peculiarities, their neighboring friend). My favorite thing about this one was the ending, which really made us all laugh and smile in amazement. A favorite for the pure joy!
The Nest [Immersive Theatre]Hatch Escapes - LAEscape roomIRLIf you're looking for a puzzle-heavy experience, this isn't that. But if you're looking for a thought provoking, potentially emotional experience augmented with puzzles, this is perfect for you. I love immersive experiences (Sleep No More in NYC got me started) and this is one of the best. The level of detail in the construction is amazing, and how this plays into the storyline makes it so meaningful. I was in tears at the end, because I'm sappy and sentimental like that. I can't say more without spoiling it. If you remember the Myst game of the 00's, this gave us the same vibe: clever interaction, atmosphere, storyline, but also the clearly heartfelt construction of it. Easily my favorite escape room experience.
The Curse Of The Black KnightEscapeX Rooms IrvineEscape roomIRLThis may be a gen 1 room, but the design and the puzzles were just so fun and novel to us, we had a great time!
The Tipsy TailorEscapement RoomsEscape roomIRLThis was so fun for our group - the puzzles were really clever and I loved the physical design of the rooms. It definitely deserves its Best of Morty award!
The Last JobConfusion EscapesEscape roomIRLAll the hearts and stars for the incredible set design and tech to match it. Quality puzzles. We had an unexpected glitch - the power went out for the whole block, leaving us momentarily confused in the dark thinking it was part of the game - but it didn't change our enjoyment and amazement at all! If anything it confirmed how dedicated the GM and owners are to players having the best experience possible.
ExcaliburMindTrap Escape Room - MurrietaEscape roomIRLTop notch immersive design, as expected from Mindtrap. The puzzles were very attuned to the theme and I liked getting to play with the pointy medieval weapons.
The Magic CottageInfinity EscapeEscape roomIRLI think this can be done with just 2, assuming those two are much faster and smarter than we were 😄. There's a lot of puzzles and the designs were clever and flowed well with the story. It's busy enough 3-4 would be perfect but we still really enjoyed it! Our game master was so thoughtful too, helping us when we got sidetracked easily, ha.
