The Skull WitchEnchambered Live Escape Room AdventureEscape roomIRLMy favorite room at Enchambered, having also played Containment and W Halls. This room is where the puzzles branched out more from traditional types, which made them exciting to solve. Their set design is absolutely immaculate and it’s frankly impossible to even recommend anything on that front. My two issues with the room is that there were too many times where it wasn’t completely obvious where a puzzle’s solution was meant to be input (also a major problem in Whispering Halls, while it wasn’t as bad within this room), and that I disliked the amount of writing included within the room. Many of the clues for the puzzles come with a paragraph of text, and while there was a story reason for their existence, it still felt somewhat immersion breaking to me. In spite of this, this room is incredible; I would rate it an 8.5 out of 10 and recommend it to any escape room enthusiast as well as those who want to see what escape rooms are truly capable of.
Capitol TreasureNeo Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLNEO is a blossoming escape company that is still working on their rooms. With this in mind, I have a lot of faith in their ability to create excellent rooms. Capitol’s set design is a solid middle ground, not appearing cheap but also not having anything incredible either. Due to the room being unfinished, the areas I had the biggest issue with appearance wise tended to be the areas they were actively working on improving, which eased my fears. Puzzle wise, this room is spectacular. It’s a true testament to fun puzzle solving and exciting solutions, and shows PERFECTLY how you can make puzzles more fun without the inclusion of 30 four digit locks. Not to mention, this is the first time I actually started having a good time during the GM’s speech. The gamemaster, Gabriel, was not only kind but funny, even during the opening speech. Please give this room a try, and I’ll be sure to return to this room in the future as I am absolutely thrilled to see the finals results. A 9/10 experience for me.
Haunted TrainNeo Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLI LOVE THIS ROOM. play it. Play it now! The set design here is a step up from Capitol Treasure; beating out the majority of other rooms I have played but not entering that amazing tier either. What’s important here are the PUZZLES. I was laughing and yelling and having so much in this room; I am STILL thinking about a certain puzzle in here. Any areas of the room that I felt needed work turned out to be areas that were still a work in progress, and so I believe the finished version of this room will be a masterclass escape room. Additionally, the game master was especially kind, helpful, and funny! A solid 9/10 experience with 10/10 puzzle design.
CommandeeredThe ImmersiumEscape roomIRLOne of the best sets in Reno, but the puzzles are somewhat lacking in comparison. Worth playing if you’ve done most of the other rooms.
Containment BreachEnchambered Live Escape Room AdventureEscape roomIRLContainment Breach is a wonderful game that I can recommend to all escape room players. It was the easiest room I played at Enchambered, and while I would say it was likely the weakest, it still surpasses the large majority of other rooms I have done. It does not have as much of an issue as other Enchambered rooms with not knowing where the solution to certain puzzles will go, which was nice. The set design remains a staple of this room, and can help the immersion immensely. This room doesn’t display anything truly incredible or amazing, but rather demonstrates an excellent understanding of what makes an escape room fun and hits all the marks required for a room to be truly great.
Magician’s Heist CompetitionKey and Code Escape Rooms - SparksEscape roomIRLKey and Code is an alright escape room place. This room had some fun puzzles, but some puzzles felt frustrating and the ending of our game was broken, which appears to be a common occurrence at Key and Code. The game’s set design is cheap and bland, with inexpensive props and furniture, as well as do not touch stickers everywhere, the bane of any escape room player. You might get some enjoyment out of this room, but Key and Code needs some serious work before I can really recommend it to anyone. Somewhere around a 5/10.
Twisted TreatmentKey and Code Escape Rooms - SparksEscape roomIRLBetter set design than other Key and Code rooms, but atrocious puzzle design. Twisted Treatment hits some of the big design flaws that are to avoided in any room, such as Red Herrings (why ever put these in a room) and information/props that provide information that is entirely useless. This room’s puzzles are bad and make the room difficult to a point where I believe the room is simply not fair. Combine that with some puzzles simply not being fun, and you have the recipe for a bad room. I hope new players avoid this room as it may turn them off of escape games altogether. 3/10.
