The Ministry Of Peculiarities
Escape room
IRL
A must for anyone who's an "escape room" enthusiast. This was truly an experience and not a typical "escape room" and although the vibe throughout was spooky and creepy, it was not scary. So if you're avoiding doing this room because you're not into horror, don't worry, you're not going to get scared. Think of it as if you're walking into a gothic fiction or ghost story/mystery. Live actors are involved but they are there to add to the story from, quirky and funny to gloomy and sarcastic.
The Weeping Witch
Cross Roads Escape Games
Escape room
IRL
What can I say about this game that hasn't already been said? I'm not one to watch horror movies or do scary escape rooms but this one was picked out by one of my friends and I'm glad I went along for the experience. The scare factor in this room isn't like other escape rooms where you'll get startled unexpectedly and get some cheap scare due to a loud noise. In this game is almost like a movie when the music builds and you're anticipating something to show up and scare you and even though you know it's coming you get tense and the whole group gets into the moment of impending fear creeping up. Definitely one that needs to be done for any fan of horror or if you're looking for a fun scare!
Wizard's Treasure
60Out Hollywood
Escape room
IRL
Brought my nieces and her friends to play here and we all really had a wonderful time! It's billed as an "easy" room and it fits its billing if you're a seasoned "escape room" enthusiast. The puzzles were high tech with lights and sounds to create a sensorial feast for the playing environment yet the puzzles were straightforward but did require players to sometimes step back and take a broad view to catch on to what was needing to be solved. Our group worked as a team on each puzzle because the gamemasters recommended it and everyone was involved in solving each puzzle. If your team wants to divide and conquer because you're just looking to see about making the leaderboard and shave time off the clock you can do that too. With regards to the set, it is beautifully laid out and you do feel like you're in a fantasy world.
Grandma's Masterplan
60Out Melrose
Escape room
IRL
Such a simple concept but such fun! Maybe inspired by the infamous Ma Barker? Anyway, your grandma was a criminal mastermind and has left you clues to find her stash of ill gotten gains before the authorities close in and confiscate it. The puzzles are all straightforward and require teamwork and puzzle solving. There's nothing flashy or complicated about this room. It's just an all around good time to be had by all who play the room.
