I was really sad to have our first failure in this room, but that is not why I didn’t enjoy it. Several of the puzzles were set up wrong, or missing pieces which made it impossible for us to progress, we only did progress because things were broken enough that the door that should have opened after we solved some puzzles was open from the start. (The Gamemaster told us not to go in there when we discovered the open door) We actually found the item that would let us escape laying out rather than locked up, and chose not to use it since we hadn’t legally found it. We weren’t even offered an apology, and will basically never play at this particular franchise again because of the experience. Try the other Breakout in Plano instead, we had a much better experience there.

There was lots to do in this room and we feeing pretty good about it, but in the end it was a smidgen too clever for us and we failed with only one puzzle to go (according to the Gamemaster) We were planning to come back and play the room again just to finish it out but sadly the pandemic hit and the place closed permanently. I’m hoping the owners might open again someday since they had some very inventive puzzles and great ideas.

Island Escape was a very fun room, but it was EXTREMELY linear. Aside from the first few minutes when we were looking around the room to see what was there, we basically just took turns opening each lock or solving puzzles , because there was almost nothing you could do until the thing before it had been solved. That said, there were some seriously fun mechanics, regarding the volcano, and the props were wonderful looking. We had a couple of problems with props that either didn’t work or were set up wrong, but the Gamemaster (Honey) was pretty good about letting us know if we had to just try something again rather than letting us walk away from something just because it wasn’t quite working right. I had a great time, was playing with a couple of newbies and I know they really enjoyed themselves.

I actually reviewed this one for Google, so I’m including a slightly edited version of the Google review here. We tried Can You Rob the Bank for the first time last week. We have done a couple of other escape rooms in the area and drove past this one and finally figured where it was, so we signed up to give it a try. We did the Superhero room and had a lot of fun doing it. We started out getting togged out since they had capes and superhero masks available (of course, I like to be prepared so I’d already brought my own cape from home.) We flailed around in the room for about fifteen minutes, solving a few puzzles, but truly stuck as to how to actually get started, but Stormie, our GM was really good about letting us wander on our own but knew to call us up with a hint when we were clearly completely stuck. About that hint. All three of us wear reading glasses, and we were directed to some fine print on a series of posters we had looked at and then ignored because we didn’t see anything. This is a problem with several different escape room companies I have played at, they don’t cater well to aging eyes *grin*. Once we had that hint, we raced along pretty well. The room’s puzzles seemed just about right. We needed a couple more hints to get us all the way through, but Stormie gave us just enough I fo to keep us going and never spoiled a whole puzzle, just nudged is along perfectly. We felt like we were going over time, but we finished with about 5 minutes to spare!!! We’ll definitely come back and try the other rooms soon! Fun experience for the three of us on my team.

Every escape room. Every haunt. Ever.
