Area 52
Escape Room Adventures
Escape room
IRL
I played Area 52 as one of my first room escapes. I had played a couple with friends and, when on vacation with my kids and parents, saw this one on Groupon so thought I would give it a try. The atmosphere was quite immersive and they had a lot of “hands on” puzzles and atmosphere to the room. They also had props like lab coats we could put on which added a lot to the fun for my kids. As this was only my third or fourth room I cannot speak much in terms of how unique the puzzles struck me but there were a good variety of puzzles so that all of us of varying ages and puzzle skill were able to contribute which always makes for a positive experience overall.
Atlantis
Escape Room LA
Escape room
IRL
I played Atlantis digitally . If you can, go in person as this room looks so beautiful in the digitized version, i can only imagine how great it must be in person. That being said, it was a really fun digital experience. It is a very immersive online experience as far as digital games go and has a decent range of puzzle styles and difficulties.

Crossroads
Escape Games Canada
Escape room
IRL
Crossroads was a very immersive game with a creepy vibe. As with Noriko, they did a great job of making you feel you were part of the story with a perfect room setup and props which gives the room the perfect boost to let you lose yourself in the storyline.
Defenders Of The Triforce
Real Escape Game | SCRAP Entertainment Inc.
Escape room
IRL
Defenders of the Triforce was the first (and so far only) large scale escape experience I have had. It was held in a very large building and you started by sitting at tables with your team. Despite coming as a group of five, the game was sold out so we were seated with a stranger but it turned out to be a whole lot of fun. Though the game often involved solving puzzles on paper at your table, you would often have to go to curtained stations to deliver your answers or items. There were many different stations and characters you interacted with throughout the game and you were presented a Link hat and Master Sword to use in the game to make it more immersive. In was an incredibly unique experience and I would not hesitate to attend another Real Escape Game in the future.
D'vile's Curio Shoppe
Mystery Mansion Regina - Online
Escape room
Virtual
D’bille’s Curio Shoppe was a very unique and pleasant surprise. When the game first started, our whole team on first impression thought that the room looked very plain and uninspired. We could not have been more wrong. This game had some great effects, really interesting puzzles and quite an intriguing storyline. After playing this game, we instantly wanted to play the other games in this trilogy. You can certainly play any of them as stand alone games but the story pulls you in that much that you want to see and play it all.

Evil Dead 2 - Remote
Hourglass Escapes - Online
Escape room
Virtual
I have played well over 150 virtual games this past year alone and Evil Dead 2 is easily one my very favourites. I know that it is also one of the higher priced virtual room escapes out there and, to be honest, this was the reason it actually took me a while to book it as I felt being virtual, it was a big risk for such a high cost but let me tell you, this room is an absolute must for fans of the Evil Dead franchise ! For starters, the reasoning behind the higher cost is that this room is fully licensed. Representatives from the studio that made the film actually visited the location to approve the room. The owner had to make sure each and every detail matched the movie right down to the smallest details you likely would not even notice like the colour of the cupboard and angles of the shutters on the wall ! He also needs to pay to keep and renew the license to run the room and had hired established actors to record scenes (not from ED but from other films) and actual established special effects crew to create many of the effects. This room was over the top AMAZING !! My experience in the cabin was so exciting I was on a playing high for days after thinking about how much fun it was . The puzzles are great, the room is immersive and the effects are by far some of the best I have ever seen. If you are in or near Seattle, please go play this on in person for me but if you aren’t, this room is done so well you will still throughly enjoy the movie quality effects and battling those Kandarians from home as well ! Super groovy !
Faraono prakeiksmas [The Curse Of Pharaoh]
Lost Escape Online
Escape room
Virtual
Curse of the Pharaoh was a very well done room. Thought the concept is not incredibly original, the room and puzzle styles definitely were. We started skeptical at the beginning but playing as we loved the other Lost Escape experiences. We ended the game unanimously pleased with the game and the host.
Game 3: Sneaking Backstage
Paruzal Games
Escape room
Virtual
Backstage is played like a Choose Your Own Adventure - you have a live host and are given a series of photos as you explore the room. This one at times was quite a challenge and a lot of fun to play through.
