Timeliner: Train Through Time
The Escape Game San Bernardino
Escape room
IRL
As expected from the Escape Game, Timeliner had a very solid set. I thought that the train vibes would feel cheesy, but the screens (high definition train windows) were actually very fun to use. You don't really spend a lot of time in each era, but feeling as though you are traveling to a different time period and location with a train ticket was surprisingly enjoyable. The room was very easy, but I generally recommend The Escape Game chain to newer players as a way to get them into the hobby. Even without rushing the room, my group had plenty of time left. As someone who has done other Escape Game rooms, I think that this one is better than Special Ops or Prison Break, but Depths and Playground are stronger rooms. I definitely did not regret driving out to the San Bernardino location so that I could get the opportunity to play it.

Cute, lockless room with a good use of puzzles. Very linear and has some scavenger hunt elements that can stall a group. Not much stands out in particular, but fun game.

I've done another Stranger Things room before, so some thing felt familiar to me, but the games themselves were actually pretty different. Set was cool (but nothing crazy) and did a good job setting the vibe Reveals were cool, fun. Puzzles were OK.
Les Quatre Sorciers et l'Ascension du Seigneur des Ténèbres [The Wizard Four and the Rise of Lord Thulsa]
Escaparium West Island

This was a great magic themed room! I liked this one much more than the other Wizard Four game at this location, and it also stands up to other magic themed games we've played (e.g. Magic Cottage). Atmosphere and decor were great, and we loved the ending. This room had less mechanical and classic puzzles and more tech.

Another magic themed room inspired by a mix of Harry Potter and LOTR. If you love that, great! You even get a wand and perform magic spells. I didn't give this room a ♥️ because it wasn't on the level of some other magic rooms we've done. The room was a little buggy and it could sometimes be difficult to connect clues together, but nothing was too big of a leap.

Love the decor of the room and the sound/visual effects of it. It felt really big when I walked inside. The decor and the theme were very cute, especially if you like dinosaurs. My only complaint involves the last puzzle, which felt needlessly difficult (required matching pictures to the environment) and specific.
Bombe a Chinatown [Chinatown Bomber]

This room was solid. It definitely shows its age in multiple ways (style of the puzzles, decor, and technical failures). There were some issues within the game but nothing major, and we solved all the puzzles regardless. GMs were very sweet.
Alice Et Le Chapeau Du Chapeau Fou Du Chapelier Fou [Alice And The Mad Hatter's Mad Hat's Hat]

The decor in this room is amazing. They really went hard with the Alice in Wonderland theme. I think the theme was really well executed and that the puzzles were very contained within it. However, the puzzles were on the weaker side. Some of the puzzles required too much of a logical leap, or the steps to take didn't seem very clear, or was flat out missing any clues to lead to them. Had a ton of fun still.

This room had a good mix of story driven puzzles and a puzzle rush element in the second half. I thought the decorations made it feel very quaint and on-theme (1920s prohibition era), so it was a pleasure to explore. It might be a little harder for less experienced players to sift through what information is relevant to puzzles vs. what might be red herrings, but everything that is used makes a lot of sense!

Was pleasantly surprised by the tech and decor in this room. There were some clever puzzles that I really enjoyed, but the storyline for this room felt like it was thrown together in the most haphazard way to connect a hodpodge of elements together. Tech was cool, although it felt a little older and reminded me of Nutrino 42 at Boss Play. The room was half linear and half non linear.
