UndercookedOmescape - SunnyvaleEscape roomIRLThis game had me in the zone and sweating as much as I expect I would in a real kitchen. We played as a team of 4 and had a great time, once we got through the initial understanding of how the room worked. One negative with this room is that the gap between the introduction and really understanding what you have to do in the room is pretty wide. It took us way too long to get actually started and I don't fault our team for that, I fault the introduction process.
Ghost PatrolTrivium GamesEscape roomIRLThe first part of this room was wonderful. Excellent puzzles, great set, clever premise. The second half was challenging in a way that detracted from the enjoyment for part of our team. There was a lot of spatial problem solving in the second part of the room, which was ideal for two on our team, but the other two of us were literally standing there just watching with nothing to do for quite a while. Still enjoyed the room overall, but this bottleneck of a single kind of puzzles ended up as the focus of our conversation for the whole drive home.
Cutthroat Cavern13th Gate EscapeEscape roomIRLThis room was Disney quality impressive with the set design and was grander that I even imagined it would be. That said, the things that caught us up and prevented us from getting out were frustratingly simple time sucks or things without a path pointing you toward them. Loved the experience, but really struggled with those elements that brought down our enjoyment.
Hide + SeekThe Escape WarehouseEscape roomIRLThis is my favorite room to date, and we did it a day after doing two rooms at 13th gate. It progressed beautifully through the puzzles with just enough of a connection from one step to the next for you to figure it out, without ever being obvious. Our group of 6 stayed busy and engaged the whole time and we had multiple wow moments as we made our way through the room. Highly recommended experience!
Cat LadyMad Genius EscapesEscape roomIRLI so loved this room and recommended it to everyone. I still talk about elements in the room and the theme was so much fun. It's unfortunate that they closed down, but hopefully others who experienced this will use it to spark new rooms that are similar.
The AttractionPalace GamesEscape roomIRLThis room was loads of fun and easily made it to my top 3 rooms ever. Set design, tech, story and puzzles were all well integrated and thought out. It was an experience from start to finish and I look forward to doing their other rooms.
RockstarCityscape GamesEscape roomIRLFun room that was clearly designed with love and attention to details. Some puzzles did not have enough of a connecting line between them to be able to know what the next step was, but a gentle hint from the GM was enough to keep moving forward.
Tomb Of Anubis13th Gate EscapeEscape roomIRLThis room was Disney quality impressive with the set design and was grander that I even imagined it would be. That said, the things that caught us up and prevented us from getting out were frustratingly simple time sucks or things without a path pointing you toward them. Loved the experience, but really struggled with those elements that brought down our enjoyment.
Magee Mafia TakedownMystery EscapesEscape roomIRLThis room is very thoughtfully assembled with clear puzzles and it progresses cleanly through the experience. It is very clearly homegrown, with plenty of locks and laminated clue cards that are showing a bit of wear and tear, but it is also well stocked with special effects and smartly integrated items.
The Voodoo CemeteryClue CarréEscape roomIRLWe enjoyed this room, but did feel it was a bit too easy to complete. We did this after two at 13th Gate and doing Hide and Seek, so perhaps it just felt easy in comparison - but we were easily done in under 40 minutes. The puzzles were good and the set design was fun, so I do think it is worth the experience but it did not have anything particularly memorable about it.
