MindTrap Escape Room - Temecula
Escape room

Cool room! Great tech! Did this room with my husband and it’s very challenging with only two people, though we did succeed with a few helpful hints. This room seems more geared towards larger groups 4+ but it was also a lot of fun for the two of us! Highly recommend giving this room a try!

I absolutely love horror themed rooms and this one did not disappoint. I’ve played about 12 rooms now and this is in my top 3. It’s not a super high tech room, no live actor, and LOTS of locks. I wouldn’t be disappointed if more of the lock elements were replaced with more higher tech elements or something more unique, ie we’ve been in rooms where you have to blow out or light led lights in a certain order to trigger something. An actor popping in to scare people every now and then would be fun too, or vibrations to make it seem like someone is checking in on the prisoners would be amazing! The only thing that was a bit underwhelming was when everyone got out of their rooms, the final puzzles were easily done by one or two people in our group, but it would have been great if it were more interactive for the entire group to escape together. Everyone in our group escaped and 5/6 survived. Everyone really enjoyed their individual rooms and the use of communication to ensure our collective success. Super fun!

This is a fun, and well decorated room with some higher tech elements which is cool. We really enjoyed the spaciousness and expansiveness of the rooms and puzzles. However, I wasn’t a fan of the 4 player minimum in order to book the room. I think two people could easily complete this room as there weren’t really any elements that actually needed 4 people to complete. I’d say if you’re gonna require 4 people to book the room, have a few elements that need 4 people to be doing something at the same time to justify it. Overall, we really enjoyed this room, the unique, technology-forward puzzles, and would recommend it!

This was a fantastically themed room with a lot of unique puzzles that have some cool technology sprinkled in. We did this room with 4 people and for the most part everyone was involved which was great. I think any more than four people, you might run into the problem with people in your group not having anything to do but wander aimlessly or watch everyone else do puzzles. But 4 or less people in your group and you’re going to have a blast. I’ve done about 12 rooms so far and this one is still in my top five. Definitely recommend you give this one a try! (The game masters are always really great with all the rooms at Quest Room, too.)

This was my first room ever 🥰 since then I’ve played around 12 rooms, many in Los Angeles, and a few others all over the world, and this one is still on my top three!!! We did this room with 4 people. It had great use of tech. Unique and creative puzzles and elements. Fantastic theming. Fun surprises! And I really loved how it made us have to work as a team at multiple points to move forward in the story. No suggestions on how to make this room any better because honestly I think it’s already amazing!

Two main points: very fun room, BUT to my knowledge you have to book with a group of 8 or you will get put with strangers. 1. The room is great. You really have to think creatively and communicate to succeed. There was a bit of an error with an element that we were able to figure out/fix on our own but it didn’t ruin our experience, just hindered us for about 3 minutes of time 😬 there are a lot of locks in this room and I wish there were a few more technologically advanced elements, and the story is a bit underwhelming but neither of these things bothered me. I still enjoyed the room thoroughly and found it challenging enough. 2. The 8 person requirement (or having to pay the equivalent of 8 people to have a 4 person group play, albeit 50% off the remaining 4 unused spots) is a super big bummer. An 8 person group is way too big for this room and 3-4 people were standing around confused with nothing to do. This is definitely a 4 person room, not an 8 person room. I’m really hoping they change this policy because every other room in LA doesn’t make you book and pay for an 8 person room to play with 4 people. I believe this room is around 40$ per person, so you’d be paying around 60$/person for a 4 person group in order to buyout the remaining 4 spots to make your smaller/private group. Hope that makes sense! Total rip! Fingers crossed they’ll change this policy, because it’s not worth 60$/person.

I LOVED this room. The live actor was great and added to the stress of escaping the room alive which was so fun. I love horror movies and horror theme rooms and this one delivers. Before the game starts, the game master will gauge the level of scary each person in your group can handle and separate you based on that. The people who are more scared of horror situations will be placed in a bit of a less interesting starting point. Two people in our group of 4 were placed in the less interesting start point and seemed less impressed with the room than myself and another group member who were placed in slightly more intense and more interactive start points. Overall, the game isn’t too scary at all, just a few stress points but they’re very fun. The puzzle elements were interesting and well themed. This is a great room for a group of 4-5. Highly recommend especially if you love scary rooms.

This was the second room I’d ever done, so of course I loved it! Since then I’ve done another ten escape rooms and looking back at this room, I would say that it was a pretty good combo of locks and puzzles. I wish they’d up the scary level of the room and have a few more scares! I agree with another one of the reviewers that the unsolicited clues from the actor were not the best. Our group would’ve preferred to figure it out on our own or to have asked for the clues. Overall, a fun experience and would recommend others give it a try!
The Spaceship
The Room

The set design of the spaceship is very cool, however, far too much reliance on black lights which only a couple people in the group can hold. The game master forgot to reset a puzzle element towards the end so we had to wait for him to redo which was a bummer and probably added to my dislike of the room. I’ve done about 12 escape rooms total now and this is my least favorite one due to the underwhelming progression of story and just ok puzzles.
