The Jurassic ProjectMemphis Escape Rooms - Downtown MemphisEscape roomIRLThe best escape room Iâve done up to now. The perfect combination of story, puzzle design, and aesthetics. There were jump scares, and fun Jurassic Park references. We drove 4 hours roundtrip for this and it was well worth it!
AmnesiaMystery MansionEscape roomIRLAn atmosphere driven room where puzzles feel like they have a purpose within the story being told. Some difficult puzzles too!
Jester's RevengeMemphis Escape Rooms - Downtown MemphisEscape roomIRLWhile this room is better than most escape rooms out there, putting it up against this locations other rooms is a letdown. Fun puzzles, but atmosphere was middling, and story was nonexistent. You can tell this room was built in the height of the new âitâ movies popularity. Also they call this their most challenging which is definitely not true. We did this after another room on the same day which is probably for the best because had we come just to do this one we would have been disappointed. Noting it takes 4 hours for me to get to this room round trip.
Movie TheaterEscape Unknown / Central Arkansas Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLAbsolutely killer puzzles with lots of well thought out pacing. Was perfect for someone looking for a bit more challenges and really cool set pieces and observation based puzzles! Story was weak, but I didnât find myself minding in this room because everything else was so great. GM was super into it and made the experience that much better!
House Of Eternal Return [Immersive Art]Meow WolfEscape roomIRLWhile I wouldn't quite call Meow Wolf an Escape room it is definitely an immersive experience and just about as cool as they come. There is plenty of story, small puzzles, and cool easter eggs to be found within the facility.
The PathEscape Unknown / Central Arkansas Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLThe coolest part about this room is that itâs completely keyless, this allows all of the puzzles to really feel like theyâre a part of the atmosphere! Our GM was super into it which helps take the experience over the top. It is single track which means that the larger your group the less there is for everyone to do.
AlcatrazHourglass Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLWe had one broken puzzle that really threw the whole room off because its a single track room. The GM was extremely apologetic which made it a bit better. The vibe was there, puzzles were fine. But the hint system at this location is a fail because it doesnât know where youâre at in a puzzle. I also hate that because the GM doesnât have a camera in the room to track our progress he didnât realize we were stuck because the puzzle was broken and let us sit building frustration for 20 minutes.
The Lost AntiDoteThe Escape Little RockEscape roomIRLLots of locks, the variety of puzzles was lacking. Unfortunately the atmosphere and story were pretty bottom of the barrel, and none of the puzzles felt like they had a purpose past unlock this random box. That said I was never bored and am not dissatisfied in the experience.
Hors D'oeuvres & ObituariesThe Escape Little RockEscape roomIRLOverall Iâm underwhelmed by this room and escape room location. There was one neat puzzle, but that doesnât lead to a satisfying experience overall. The GM wasnât awful, but she also wasnât that into it. The lighting in the room didnât fit the theme at all.
AlienHourglass Escape Rooms RussellvilleEscape roomIRLUpon first walking into the room the overall vibe feels cool. The problem is that the room is in desperate need of refurbishment. Lots of parts of it were just falling apart. The GM did say someone had come and wrecked the room a few weeks before. The achilles heel of all of the Hourglass escape rooms is their awful hint system. I donât think this should dissuade you from going and doing their rooms, but it will always keep them from being great. Having an active GM is so vital to an escape room experience, and Hourglass not working it that way sucks.
