New Haven Orphanage

Atmosphere was good. Heavily relies on darkness and loud sounds for scares, which is a bit annoying if you really enjoy puzzles. The puzzles were simple enough, but the splitting of clues into 2 streamlines seemed unnecessary and a little extra confusing. The only reason I would not come back was due to how loud the room was. We could hear other groups from a different escape room right beside us who would not stop screaming at us and trying to engage our group. There was rarely a point in the game where you could not hear other groups talking and screaming from other rooms which got pretty frustrating! If you are looking to actually escape a room, do not do rooms at this location. You do not escape, you just win and go back out through the door you came in. Mediocre experience.

Many props seemed broken. Some objects our group thought was a puzzle but ended up just being broken parts of props from around the room.

No live actors during our visit due to Covid but normally yes!

They did have a numbering system to the puzzles that I think got a bit convoluted/not needed, but I guess they wanted to direct you to what the puzzles were. Otherwise the puzzles were fantastic, really varied and some unique solves.

Creepy. It is a flashlight room so if that’s not your thing then this might not be the best for you. It did feel reasonable/purposeful though. Props were a little worn down but otherwise very thematic!

Probably hard for newer teams, totally reasonable for those that have done a bunch before, especially at this location
