Cabin 13

Fun room where we are broken up and need to work together to help each other escape. The room has a spooky ambiance but is not scary

My group and I were excited to do two rooms in one and this was the second one. Walking inside was very welcoming which made us excited but in the room was a different story. There are puzzles you don’t have to do if you don’t have enough people and old puzzles they tried to erase are still possible to see and we were stuck on it for 30 minutes before we realized we were wasting time.

Had decently high hopes but unfortunately it wasn’t the best. Most puzzles didn’t make sense and the ones that did almost seemed pointless. There were things that seemed like they were previous puzzles that were in the room that either got scrapped or just horrible red herrings. There’s one specific lock that is practically impossible to open even with the correct combination.

This room is meant to be an homage to Friday the 13th and is pretty fun. The room has some puzzles that require coordination between your entire team. The puzzles are pretty interesting and provide a fun challenge as some of the puzzles were extremely different to previous ones we had played. The room is fun and interesting providing us an interesting game to play.

This room was okay, but I think the GM made it to where I didn’t really enjoy the room. When the combination was correct, the lock was super sticky and didn’t open but she didn’t proceed to tell us until we asked for a hint. It was super frustrating because we wasted 10 minutes on a puzzle we had already solved. Additionally, when we asked for hints, our GM just gave us the answer instead of a nudge in the right direction which took the fun out of the entire room itself. I like that they adjust the amount of puzzles in the room in accordance with the number of people in your party, but I think it would have been more enjoyable with a different gamemaster.

Overall, this room was just okay in my opinion. The atmosphere was creepy but nothing super scary. I wish we had a better GM though. There was about 10 minutes where I had the correct answer to a lock but it was stuck and I didn’t want to break the lock so I thought it was incorrect. Instead of sharing the lock was a little stubborn, she waited till I had to ask for a hint and gave me the answer on how to solve it. I was pretty annoyed too because she did this throughout the game whenever we asked for a hint. I do admire the room’s ability to adapt to the number of players in the room though. Not sure if I would come back with more people again but the room was better than the GM experience.

Low tech room but very fun mix of puzzles and creativity!! Added bonus for some spook factor. Having 5 people gives you the full experience for this room but you can do with however many you’d like!
