Escape the Darkest Hour: Torture Chamber

The puzzles were difficult, but definitely manageable! Set design was awesome and staff were amazing. I was nervous to go to a horror themed room, but it wasn’t too scary to the point where I couldn’t focus on the puzzles.

Part of my group who normally don’t do scary rooms thought this room was scary, but compared to other rooms in OC, this one isn’t too bad. It is definitely dark and spooky and there were some loud noises. The room set was nice and the story flowed well and the puzzles were straightforward, just some were random and didn’t really fit in with the story.

First off just like the other reviews mention I am also a huge scaredy cat so this room had me on my toes the entire time! The room set up was amazing really felt like you were in a torture chamber and had you panicking about time with special surprises along the way. A group of 3 or 4 is recommended but at least have one person in your group that can handle the scariness so they can concentrate on getting the puzzles solved and not so much of getting scared! The puzzles itself weren’t difficult but when you are racing to get it done and it’s hard to see they become hard to solve. This is the room if you want to get your adrenaline pumping the whole time! It was a fun experience overall probably one of my top 3 favorite escape room!

Decided to play this game for my bachelor party and I loved it! Particularly the involvement of players in some of the props and story line. Puzzles were not too difficult but the scare factor did play a role in us taking us longer to finish the room. No live actors but be weary of jump scares. Would love to try another room with Mission Escape Games.

This was my first escape room ever played and the gameplay was fantastic now looking back after completing several dozen. Great effects. The gameplay was very smooth and the game master only gave hints or clues when requested. 10/10 would recommend to a friend. Slightly spooky theme which helps but still allows for dynamic problem solving.

I do not typically play horror themed escape rooms and this was my first one. With that being said, it scared everything in me. However, I’m a baby with jump scares. This room was so immersive and I really felt like I was in this torture chamber. I did not contribute much due to me being frightened to even touch or solve anything. However with my strong, fearless teammates we were able to escape. It is probably not as scary as I am describing but definitely beware if you are not fond of horror themes!

Very fun game. Immersive with some fun memorable moments. Definitely spooky and at times actually scary. One part, to me, is an “unfair” scare. But I’m also a real weenie hut jr and like to be able to consent to my level of scare. With that said, I would still play it again if I could.
