214 escape rooms
Ok this review is about the service. The game itself is fine and if you’re given the full hour, is probably something we would have enjoyed. As someone who has played more than 100 escape rooms, I’ve never had worse customer service at an escape room. There’s no sign for the entrance, so be weary. They will start the time as soon as you arrive no matter what. We called ahead to let them know we’d be five minutes late due to snow. She said as long as we were there before 15 after, we were fine, but if we got there later than 9:15, they have to start the time. Understandable. We arrived at 9:10 with an extra player. Paid. Moved into the room. His opening explanation was so long that we started the game at 9:28 (yes, I checked my phone - we were allowed to have them inside). He said we only had 40 minutes to play before leaving. Huh? We arrived before 9:15! Our game ended promptly at 10:09. Cool. He also said he gave us an extra 10 minutes??? No. You didn’t. He was actually in character and seemed into it, but mostly that he just wanted to go home. Normally when you fail a room they let you play to the end, with them explaining what to do. He wouldn’t let us finish anything or touch anything to see how the game ended. We had my husband’s brother with us who had never played before and I’m so disappointed this was his first foray into escape rooms. This is not how they’re meant to be played. Bummed. Spend your money on a company where the Game Masters care.
