Months have gone by since five friends vanished without a trace. Four of the missing individuals have been discovered in separate locations across the frozen hills, indicating potential foul play. Law enforcement suspects that the fifth friend, whose remains have not been found, is responsible for the crimes. Despite an extensive search, the authorities believe that the final survivor has also perished, labeling the case as a cold one and closing it. However, you have a different hypothesis. One of the four bodies found was located inside an old cabin known for a terrifying tale from the 1950s. The story goes that a man went insane and murdered his entire family and anyone who came close to the cabin. Despite his confession, the authorities never located the bodies from that crime, and the perpetrator was sentenced to death and locked up in a mental institution. Until his dying breath, he insisted that the house was haunted, and the spirits made him commit the gruesome acts of violence. Determined to uncover the truth, you and your friends venture into the hills to locate the infamous cabin and search for any signs of your missing friend. However, as you approach the cabin, you begin to feel lightheaded and pass out one by one. When you come to, you realize that your face is covered, and you can only use one hand. To make matters worse, some members of your group are missing. Can you locate your friends, find your missing companion, and escape before suffering the same fate as the family from the eerie tale?

This is my favorite escape room I have done to date. I plan to do all the other Clever Fox rooms that I can now!

Gameplay

Flowed very well; super fun/creepy. Very effective with an actor coming into your room periodically.

I think people with mobility disabilities would still do well in here. Hearing impairment would make it difficult to hear the GM interaction. It was a pretty dim room with little lighting most of the time, so a vision impairment could compound the challenge of that, but with a group should still be possible.

So immersive and scary to have live actor touch you and have a bag over your head. It was awesome, perfect room for Halloween lovers.

Clever fox is conveniently located near my home so I make it a point to try all their escape rooms. When they said they have never done anything like this before they weren't lying! I really felt like part of the story line and it eas suspenseful the whole time. You didn't know when something was going to happen or not. Our game master Zack was immersed in the story as well and never felt like just an employee watching us but part of the game. He did an amazing job. Puzzles were all great. Aesthetics were on point and the whole concept is something I hope they continue to use in other rooms!

Cold Case is brands new and cracked my top 5. It’s not very big it’s not a lot to it but man it was fun. The immersion level was off the charts for us. The puzzles flowed well and made sense. The story based on a true story which is always a plus. Tom was great as a GM. I love the premise of you have to be in your exact position at different points in the game and the thought of expanding that idea to combat curiosity and lack of patience is just next level. The small stuff in the game that just checks all the boxes for me. Love the split start, one of my favorite mechanics of an escape room. I’ve played some similar rooms in the concept and story and th eye just were meh. Cold Case surpasses those similar games and takes it, flips it on its head, takes several steps forward and provides a thrilling ride for 60 minutes.

One of the best rooms ive played. The environment is immersive and the split start added another element to the game. Very interactive. The suspense adds to the difficulty!
