This is definitely our new favorite room, and BY FAR our favorite pirate room. As soon as the intro starts, you're immersed in the world. There definitely some unexpected elements, and at one point all 3 of literally stood watching an effect going, "that's so cool!"
We absolutely loved that the story was an interactive part of the game, not just a background!
The level of detail atmosphere was top notch. You really felt like you were boarding the pirate ship!
Michelle and Brandon were awesome!
Particularly interesting or different
Yes
I didn't think I could be surprised by another pirate room. I was wrong!
I've never experienced a game where the story was truly a part of the game like this one!
Some amazing lighting and sound effects, though there were definitely a decent amount of mechanical elements as well. A balanced mix for the theme.
We were a team of 3 - two somewhat experienced players and one newbie. We definitely had to ask for a few hints. We would have really struggled to get to all the puzzles if we would have just had our normal team of 2. If we'd had 4, we probably could have gotten by with less hints.
As an adult, not scary at all. My 10-year-old would rate it spooky, only due to some thunder during the intro, but he's pretty sensitive to loud noises. It's dim, but not so dim that you can't comfortably see everything in the room. Like any pirate game, you might encounter a skeleton or π, but that's it.
My 10-year-old loved everything about it except the thunder. I'd say that 90 percent of the puzzles were in his reach. I can only think of one that he wouldn't have been able to reach at all.
