Every complaint I've seen about this room is valid. It is absolutely a 90+ minute room to do in 60 minutes and out of all of 13th Gate's rooms, this is the only one we felt less thrilled and more anxious/exhausted by the end of it despite finishing with 5 seconds remaining. There's a few easy things they could do to fix the trouble points and considering it's been years since its release and they keep getting the same feedback, I'm assuming they're not looking to change things. The iPad was useless, the flashlights we got didn't always work, I don't love working almost entirely through journals, and I'm really glad our GM (River) contributed as much positivity to our room as she did. That said... The set - DAMN. The puzzles - DAMN. The wow factors - DAMN.
Loved all the puzzles, just wish there was more time to enjoy them.

Some people book two slots back to back to enjoy that. I think that being almost necessary seems wrong.

We did this with four and were fine. There were spots we wished we had more bodies for our telephone system, but aside from that we felt like we were missing parts of the room already as we rushed.
Spooky
Cursed tomb vibes.

This is a 90 minute room disguised as a 60 minute room. Our team booked 2 hours back to back in order to enjoy the experience and not rush. An amazing room PACKED with puzzles and things to do. We did it with 6 and got out in 1 hour 35ish minutes. I know other groups of 6 have done it an an hour but there is no way you are enjoying the amazing set pieces and theming.

There was a lot of anticipation and lead up to this room. It was our 4th room of the day, and we admit we were a bit disappointed after the morning session. Anubis did NOT disappoint. It has won several awards and I can say it definitely deserved all of the accolades. The puzzles and theming fit perfect. There was a journal that ran you through the room and it was also done very well. The reveals in this room are the best we have seen so far anywhere. This was an amazing Indiana Jones type adventure. We escaped and found out that only 5% of first timers have completed the room. Our GM Caitlin was fun to work with for our last room of the day. Would love to have more time to really explore the room. That is my only critique for this room. There is so much going on and you are so invested in breaking out that sometimes you donβt get to stop and enjoy just how beautiful the room really is. Puzzles were a bit on the difficult side at times and possibly a bit more abstract than a straight forward room however we were able to figure most of them out. We were given warnings in most of the rooms that the iPad they used for clues was not working properly and that they were trying to phase it out. This is actually a positive because the rooms that it did work in really took away from the overall aesthetic. Plus it uses QR codes and literally puts the code near the puzzle. Glad they are looking to phase that out. Definitely worth the trip!
I actually loved the flow. I felt the puzzles went nicely into each other and went with overall room vibe.
This is one of their best rooms. Opening reveal is amazing and throughout it is very Raider of the Lost Arkish. Great special effects and props!
Caitlin was great. We preferred asking her for anything rather than IPAD.

It is a run of the mill tomb run plot wise, however the special effects and set push it above and beyond.
Story was ok. Run of mill.
Hard
Only 5% make it out first time.
The game itself is extremely high tech in how it functions however the puzzles are more manual.

This room was Disney quality impressive with the set design and was grander that I even imagined it would be. That said, the things that caught us up and prevented us from getting out were frustratingly simple time sucks or things without a path pointing you toward them. Loved the experience, but really struggled with those elements that brought down our enjoyment.

Puzzles are set for your more challenging players. However, 13th Gate Escape doesnβt disappoint in the areas of innovation and production.

The set design is phenomenal and it's worth doing just for that, but the puzzles are quite difficult in a frustrating way and not in a way where you feel accomplished for figuring it out. The iPad hint system also feels especially cold and frustrating to use, especially when you're most of the way through a puzzle but get stuck on the last leg of it, and so all the hints the iPad gives you are stuff you've already figured out. If you do this room, commit to asking for lots of hints and solutions if you feel stuck at any point or you won't make it in 60 minutes. Our group didn't get out even though I thought we were making good time and I was fuming all day about the iPad.

Seemed to be a lot of complete in one hour. The room highly depended on a journal and reading which in my opinion really down grades a room. The set design was impeccable and had some good unique puzzles.

I will reiterate what many others have said, this is not a 60 minute room. We were a group of 4 enthusiasts and made it to the final part of the game without escaping. The puzzles were unfortunately a bit disappointing and at times frustrating. They bounced between being so simple it felt like we must be missing something and so time consuming we felt likeβ¦ we must be missing something. BUT OH MY GOD THE SET DESIGN. I do not regret playing this room at all, I was so wowed by the attention to detail and the overall cohesiveness of the room, not to mention the fun set mechanics. If only I didnβt have to carry an iPad around and scan QR codes to get hints it wouldβve been totally immersive.

Beautiful set design completely wasted on this room. Way too many puzzles, and many poorly designed ones with bad instructions, a time-wasting puzzle we didnβt need to do to solve a clue in the end, very difficult locks to unlock with given keys, easy to fail a puzzle if you donβt do them in a very specific order and overall a bad experience. It relies heavily on a good GM to warn you when youβre on the wrong path or did something that will accidentally screw you over to solve a puzzle. This should be a 90-minute room and not require a journal so heavily to get through the room.
Bad puzzles, finicky mechanisms, too many puzzles for time allotted, too many time-wasting tasks

13th Gate is unbeatable when it comes to set design, theming and props. The puzzles is where they severely drop the ball. Their hint system with iPads is just terrible and you absolutely will not escape in 60-mins without many clues or prior attempts. Itβs great they walk you through how to solve it, but a puzzle should be solvable and it shouldnβt require 20 mins or more to complete when there are far too many left to complete.
Insanely difficult puzzles with the very first having no organization for getting them started and I hope you like reading because youβll be doing it the entire time
Itβs so frustrating because the sets are movie quality. Breathtaking, exciting, fearful, and just so solid and fun. The puzzles bring the experience down very far
iPads didnβt exist in ancient Egyptβ¦ so maybe donβt have that be included because it takes away from the immersion
