Will you escape Edward's basement? You and your friends have been kidnapped by Edward Tandy -- a cannibalistic serial killer with a fine taste for unique electronics, taxidermy, and of course human flesh. He has created a sick and twisted game of sorts in his deceased mother's home. He hopes to weed out the unintelligent and find those who are "worthy of escaping" by his late mother's standards. In THE BASEMENT, you and your team will have to employ keen communication skills, a finely tuned organizational prowess, and a general ability to keep your $h!t together under pressure if you want to survive. This is what we like to call a "funnel puzzle" where you will find numerous items and clues throughout the room. These items all come together to orchestrate your escape.

This room is really tough to rate, because the actual game is pretty good, decent puzzles though it’s really just a lot of search puzzles. I really really didn’t like the live actor, because she became a part of the team, but a pushy overly hinting member of the team that honestly kinda of ruined the experience. But it’s hard to really poorly rate the room, because things were still better than your average escape room. But it was agreed upon by all 6 of us that it was by far the worst at The Basement.
Ehhh, very non linear and a lot of stuff presented at once, but not used for a while. So, not much “flow”. Shows it’s age a good bit, still fun though.
Fairly impressive, it more or less looked like a basement nowhere near their most impressive room though.
GM was great, the actor was way overly pushy with hints, she basically walked us through the room, which was very frustrating.
No
The story is well integrated, throughout all their rooms, which is one of the basement’s strength.

We had a lot of fun in this room and our actor was the best! We liked it so much that we failed the first time and came back to win!

We did the dead and breakfast package where you get to do all 4 escape rooms back to back. This worked for us since our team loves out of area. This one in particular was pretty scary and had challenging puzzles. It also was pretty realistic since it included a live actor.

I’ve done this room twice. The first time, we were put with many strangers and I hated it. It was frustrating, the actor kept scaring everyone in the room (not the actors fault at all they were just trying to help us along with the puzzle) and when I asked how close we were to getting out the person said “I don’t know it’s my first day. You can play it again and figure it out. Now, get out”. I was angry about it. I’ve gone back couple years later when the rooms became private. It was a better experience but still frustrating. If you don’t have a crew that knows what they are doing, it’s going to be a close call getting out. We spent out last 10 minutes searching for one puzzle piece we were missing and there was nothing the actor could do to help. Wasn’t the funnest of times. Out of their chapters, you can do this fine but I’d say skip. They have better rooms.

Man oh man. This room. I almost quit before we even got in. I was so scared. This is for sure the scariest room here. But not tooooo bad. My recommendation for this room is to tear it up and pay attention lol! Great decor and loved our actor!
