“I’m not a monster. I’m just a serial killer!” - Ronnnie Horrifically challenging escape room, the designers leaned in to the gruesome while keeping the scare factor to a “third-date” level; not terrifying but plenty of opportunities to show how unafraid you are while your date clings to you for protection. A plethora of puzzles, enough to keep even large groups occupied. Our GM, Macy, was delightfully friendly and gave just the right amount of nudging when requested. She made a great experience even better!

While this game is in a smaller area than others we’ve played that we really enjoy, they did a great job on the set design. The storyline was interesting and had some laughs at one point. The puzzles were good, a couple I hadn’t seen before. Overall, we really liked this game and venue. Our GM was very friendly, too.

Well-executed mobster-themed caper room. The puzzle types are varied and creative, and integrated into the set design. Our GM, Kelly was enthusiastic and animated, creating a really enjoyable experience. Suggest playing this room first then going straight into their other room!

I loved this room! Strong story, creative puzzles, and a period-perfect set. You can tell that the room designer cares; lots of detail and the puzzles are integrated within the setting. Our GM, Kelly was absolutely delightful. This would be a good room for larger teams, since there is a lot to do. There are stairs.

Excellent single-room, reverse panic room adventure. This is a great room for beginning to advanced players. Lots to do, non-linear play style, with creative and intuitive puzzles. Our GM, Sharidan did all three of our games and she was fabulous!

Fun room with beautiful sets but we were confused about a couple things that didn’t work properly in the first room, which made the team members anxious and not in the best mood to play. Otherwise the rest part of the game was pretty amazing and had some nice puzzles. Game mater stayed in character the whole time, which was great! Wish we had a better start and will totally enjoy this room!

How Do Escape Rooms Work?

Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
