Escapology - Orlando Sunset Walk FL
Escape room
IRL
It was my fortunate opportunity to try the room before opening and give my feedback to the game masters and management. Unfortunately, two clues were needed due to a lack in design but I was assured they’d be fixed by grand opening. Phenomenal story, everything Blended perfectly (graphics, effects, story, mech, screen, tasks) into the era and plot and feel. 2 is the right number, 3/4 would have stands-arounds and there are not many parallel tasks. I finished it solo in just over 50 minutes, and taking away the two clues I asked for, which were included, both were for design flaws. It’s a candidate for a sprint room replay or a Halloween month room. Great fun.
Advent Calendar - The Hunt for the Golden Book
EXIT: The Game

This is a unique twist, an escape room built over 24 days on the advent calendar 📅 . A must try for those obsessed with games or to liven up the religious season. The Exit Game delivers on many levels. 1) Range of Difficulties 2) inexpensive for a group 3) Take Home fun 4) well designed 5) high quality This stay at home option for obsessed escapists is definitely a great option. It’s a great option for large families (that suffer the burden for the entire rooms price). There is a scoring feature and clues/hints are available which reduce your score.

I’ve been wanting to play this game since I played The Quest at the same location a while back. This room was easier than the quest, but again nonlinear (once you leave the first room). There are definitely too many 4 digit codes/locks in the main room, and the directional lock didn’t open the first 2 times (had the same problem in The Quest). But kudos to good design, it was pretty obvious which code went with which box once you broke it down. Escape Goat does a good job of organizing and grouping tasks/codes. Rooms were immersive and the tech was subtle but apparent. Game Master was helpful nudging me in the right direction because the mech/tech releases weren’t always obvious what to do next (honoring the don’t touch screwed/glued rule), which was challenged in the first room. The clues I asked for were for time management once I figured out the basic solution. to be honest, I didn’t really need any clues after the first one, but there’s only one timer that is out of sight so you lose track of time easily in the main room. Definitely a room to do solo, definitely a great beginner room, but honestly - this is a date night dream for two rookies.

Masters Of Mystery - Online

Virtual
The plot/theme was loose. However, to feed escapist addiction for new rooms, this is a must try. My belief is online, take home and augmented reality escape rooms will become the norm eventually. The cost of putting a family of 4 into an escape room is cost prohibitive. So the logical step for wider appeal is online and VR.

Haunt
Haunted house
Smells, story, creepy factor, scares are all top notch. My favorite haunted house of all time. Man, they nailed it. But even by nailing it, isn’t scary, just insanely creepy. But the actors are spot on matches and the costumes and sets are top notch. Very much an immersive experience and a great time.

Such a fun game, a candidate for a speed run and honestly, could be done solo. The game master was super, stayed in character and helped keep us in the immersive experience.

Negatives: it’s marketed as an award winning “comedy room” - there’s no comedy. It’s cute, but it’s a challenging pirate theme. We had a few lock issues, but the staff added time back, and they were kind and courteous with our clues. The room shouldn’t be taken lightly. It’s very challenging and has an extended split-team sequence that if you can’t break free from, could burn up time you’ll definitely need later. There are many puzzles and challenges that 2 experienced escapist can do but 4 would be best. It’s all about communication and teamwork and trust with the extended team split. We solved it with help a little over the time limit.

I really miss the enguiniety and the creativity of Enter the Imaginarium. Great original rooms and themes.

It was “supposed to be bad” for the first half… what?? Once I understood the concept it was better, but I quite literally thought it was waaaaaaay too much build up for the lackluster house. If they had this much effort building the story for Last of Us, maybe that wouldn’t have felt rushed. Missed opportunity
