Storyteller's SecretBoxarooEscape roomIRLThis room proves, more than anything I’ve seen so far, that size really doesn’t matter. Absolutely incredible experience packed into a relatively small environment. Really inventive puzzles, an actually solid storyline, and some of the most fun interactions I’ve seen yet. This game is beautiful.
Ruins: Forbidden TreasureThe Escape Game Nashville: Berry HillEscape roomIRLHoly moly. There’s not much to say about this one, but everything from the puzzles to special effects is just amazing. Definitely recommend doing this one in person; wouldn’t be nearly as fun online. Seriously, though, this is something else. The less you know going into it, the more you’ll get out of it.
The Body ShopRed Fox EscapesEscape roomIRLEasily Red Fox’s best game, by far. Incredibly funny and unique storyline, amazing theming, and some of the most fun interactions I’ve ever had in an escape room. The story never drops from start to finish, leaving you totally immersed, and the balance between humor and horror is absolutely perfect. There is some gore in this room, as listed on their website, but it’s nothing too bad, and there’s no jump scares at all. Also the soundtrack is an instrumental of the girl scout song from the Beetlejuice musical so that earns brownie points from me.
Boda Borg Boston QuestsBoda Borg BostonEscape roomIRLThis is pretty much an escape room crossed with an obstacle course, and it’s the best thing to exist. It’s the most replayable experience in the escape room world, and like nothing you’ve ever seen. There are more mysteries hidden inside this complex than anything else in the world. For the best experience, your team should be physical enough to climb, crawl, and jump. It’s an amazing experience that you need to book now, and there’s only one reason I’m keeping this review short. In Boda Borg, the less you know going into it, the better.
Ruins of the Mystic TempleRabbit Hole Recreation ServicesEscape roomIRLThis is the only game I’ve currently played in Denver, and it did not disappoint. The theming was amazing, the interactions were clever, and it’s truly good for any size group and any ages. It also has a spectacular ending, which is the most memorable part of the game. I’ve heard Rabbit Hole’s other games are stronger, but the truth is, if you play one, play them all.
Convergence Station [Immersive Art]Meow WolfEscape roomIRLAbsolutely mind blowing IF you know what you’re getting yourself into. This is NOT an escape room in the slightest. It’s an immersive, interactive art exhibition. There’s no puzzles to be solved, and while there technically is some “gameplay” you can take part in, none of that is the point. Just wandering around the place, taking everything in, and exploring is the main purpose of this place. It’s beautiful, it’s incredibly detailed down to the last inch, and it’s massive- I legitimately got lost multiple times throughout my visit. There’s tons of rooms, characters, and spaces, cavernous multi-level chambers, and more secret passages than Hogwarts. I cannot believe a place like this even exists and I absolutely cannot wait to go back.
Prison BreakThe Escape GameEscape roomIRLSo far, my favorite game at The Escape Game besides Ruins. Split start is utilized well, set looks fantastic, and clever puzzles that make you feel smart. Above all, it’s a very immersive experience, from lighting to sound design to the set and puzzles themselves.
The Pirate's Booty II: The Lost ShipRoom Escapers BostonEscape roomIRLIt’s been weeks since I played this game and I’m still not sure how I feel about it. The experience was fun for the most part. There were some really strong aspects, and some really weak ones too. Unlike any other escape room I’ve played, for better or for worse. Multiple times through this game, you’re gonna break standard escape room rules. If you find the right group of people and go in with zero expectations, you’ll enjoy yourself.

20,000 Leagues5 WitsEscape roomIRLI’m absolutely blown away that a game like this could have ever existed. This game absolutely redefined the escape room universe. It had some of the best sets I’ve seen in my life, replayable puzzles, incredible special effects, and an ending that made me feel like I was on a theme park ride. This game was absolutely revolutionary and I do hope it comes back in some form.
