The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
13th Hour Escape Room
Escape room
IRL
Wow. WOW!! This was the best escape room I’ve ever played in the US (there’s one I really liked in 🇨🇴😝). It was so much fun. The set designs were beyond impressive. The animatronics added a really nice touch. I cannot imagine the amount of time and dedication to put together something this high quality. I don’t want to spoil anything, but you really feel like you’re in the movie! Did I say “wow” yet? In addition, the puzzles flow so nicely. I was very impressed. The ending was also quite satisfying 🥰 amazing! So many memorable moments throughout the whole game, and it was overall so much fun to play. It was truly an experience, not your ordinary escape room.

This was the first escape room I did at Masterpiece Escapes and WOW! First off let me just start off with the staff they all seem to really love working there and giving you a great experience. They tell a background story before the game that really gets you immersed into it and they are with you every step of the way at all times throughout the game. When we were going to ask for a hint they were already starting to nudge us. I mean, amazing. They also come in at the end and see if you understood/figured out the whole story and if not explain it to you. The escape room itself flowed very nicely. There were some elements that I’d personally never seen before that were really cool. There were sound effects, maybe two jump scares along with that. Multiple rooms. Lots to do and have fun with. Such nicely decorated rooms. Overall, a great experience!

This room is so much fun, definitely unique, and everything fits in so well with the theme. There is sooooo much to do, two stories, lots of: doors to open, riddles to solve, codes to decipher and put in, locks, and there are puzzles you’ve definitely never seen before. It can be quite intimidating at first, and maybe even throughout. I mean, one of the workers let us know that it is their hardest room and it has 46! puzzles. So go with a group of 4-6 experienced players and don’t all focus on the same thing. Things can be done at once. We were a group of 4, just two of us experienced, and we made it out with only seconds to spare. It was very non-linear but everything just made sense after you thought about it… the props and overall setting were awesome. My one complaint is the same one I had for my other reviews here; there is a lot of noise from others in the rooms next to yours. So, it can be distracting. In addition, you likely will hear their hint sound go off and run to your hint board thinking it’s yours only to find nothing 😅

Great decor and immersion. If it’s your first room it might be a little challenging the idea of bouncing between rooms a bit but the GM will help you! There is lots to do and have fun with. One other factor that is nice and I haven’t seen before is that if you’re slightly over the hour and close to getting out they let you finish and get out. You never feel rushed. At the same time if you like to know your time remaining it might be difficult for you because it’s not posted anywhere. I think their aim is for it to be more about the experience. The escape room itself flowed very nicely and definitely had a creepy factor. Great decor, sound effects, and one really cool jump scare. It was very immersive and just overall such a great experience. I can’t decide between this room and Wrecked which is my favorite, maybe this one as I loved the creepy part. There are multiple rooms, different types of things to do/puzzles and whatnot some never seen before. Lots to do and have fun with. Such nicely decorated rooms. One other factor that is nice and I haven’t seen before is that if you’re slightly over the hour and close to getting out they let you finish and get out. You never feel rushed. Set design, space size, and animatronics were all greeeeat! I mean truly well put together. The different rooms/settings were cool as well, really unique and fun. I also thought it was cool to have no traditional number or letter locks, making every puzzle more unique. I do, however, think some things could’ve flowed better. Also there were some hiccups like at one point a key was supposed to come out of some spot but it got stuck and two workers had to try to get it to work for 5 mins or so. At another part something had to be typed in and I put the same code about 50 million times (ok, maybe 4 times) and it wasn’t working… the worst part was that you couldn’t see it on the screen as you were typing it 😅 Also, the thing about it being a warehouse space is that the voices of people in the escape room next to us echoed into our escape room, but the real problem was so did their hint button noise (and quite clearly). So multiple times we didn’t know if we were getting a hint or them and we’d run into the room where the hints were displayed only to see nothing haha. Could be solved by having hint screens in multiple rooms not just in the first one. If these things were fixed my review would go from “like” to “love.” Still a good experience and worth checking their escape rooms out … especially the Wizard of Oz one!

The set was really cool! I definitely did get some of the horror movie vibes that others have mentioned, but I don’t agree with it being graphic/gorey. There was just a little bit of the gore factor, but barely anything. It was well put together, and a bit on the smaller side for the 13th Hour rooms, but still multiple rooms within itself. Overall it was a really fun, easy room. 2 experienced players and 2 non-experienced players and we got out in just under 40 minutes. I’d recommend this room for a group of 2-4. One complaint: at 13th Hour a lot of noise can be heard from others in the rooms next to yours. So, it can be distracting. You’ll also hear their hint sound go off and run to your hint board thinking it’s yours only to find nothing 😅

There is SO much to do. I almost feel like getting out in an hour is nearly impossible haha. We actually had to do the room twice to get out 😝. Maybe it would’ve been easier with more than 2 people, but at the same time there aren’t too many things that can be done at once. Overall a fun room once you get into a good groove 🥰 fun ending too.

Fun room! I really liked the set design and the soundtrack 🥰 some puzzles took some true thinking and I definitely appreciate that. I saw stuff that I hadn’t seen before, and it all went really nicely with the plot. They did a really nice job with this room and making it feel like a submarine!

Atmosphere was really nice. I mean as soon as I walked in I loved it! They did great with that. The game flowed well, didn’t even need hints… until we got to the end which really left a sour taste in my mouth about this room, which stinks because it has so much potential. So naturally in an escape room you open everything up and use what you need. What you don’t use you either put it in a pile and/or drag it with you or what you have it, right? Well, we did that. So when it came to the final part to solve the mystery we couldn’t do it alone. There was waaay too much to remember. So I recommend they just make the effort to tell the players before starting to not separate things that they go through like bags, suitcases, etc. to leave everything where they find it… because if not the last and most important puzzle is impossible without a hint giving you the answer.
