If you took away all the impressive set design at 13th gate and focused solely on puzzle flow, I think this room would be my favorite - and it still has a pretty damn good set design. I loved how this room played out, the set was phenomenal, and the lighting and sound design really worked for me. Absolutely worth doing if you're at 13th Gate.
Great series of puzzles. Loved the variety and the integration. Felt very smooth.
Creepy like hell. Great technology added to the vibes.
Average experience with GM.

100% an AMAZING experience! Slightly experienced players will do well. This game had my heart pounding the whole time and was perfectly thought out from beginning to end. 10/10 an outstanding escape! This may top my list at this point.
This was unlike any other room weβve done. Very innovative and immersive. Huge playing environment.
Amazing attention to detail, fantastic mix of tech into the environment that enhanced the environment. I was on edge the ENTIRE time. Definitely got in my head.
River was fantastic!

Great theming for this room. Very large setting and it was very well done with some great sound effects and vfx. This definitely stepped up the immersion. Fun intro and definitely got your blood pumping. Some puzzles were very fun and well themed. We had to break out and rescue a girl out of the asylum. It is supposed to be a horror room and it did not have the overall scary vibe we were expecting based on the hype. There were a few clues that required a bit more lighting and involved colors and that stopped us up for a few minutes. Some issues with communication with GM. Could be because they switched halfway through the room. Not sure if that is something that is usually done. Timer started before our audio finished so we lost a few minutes there. We did finish all the puzzles however there was a lot going on with this room that left a sour taste for on the experience. Still a nice room!!
Game did flow well and there were certain parts that were unique.
Great effects and lighting. VFX were top notch and a couple of great air puffs. Bathroom really smelled which was gross but effective! Definitely was immersive.
GM for this game was a bit miss compared to other games. We did have a GM switch halfway through so that might have caused some issues. We did ask for a clue twice and it was a bit of wait getting help.

This was a very basic storyline that relied on special effects to carry the room.
Story was not bad, definitely get for the protagonist.
Hard
I would say some of the hardness came from low lighting and not being able to see colors towards the end.
High tech
A good mic but relief of VFX lighting and sound.

Spooky
It is listed as horror and there are a few scares in it, however they are comprised mostly of sound jump scares which get repetitive after a while. It is more startling than scary because those loud sounds would go off when you were right next to them instead of setting ambience.

We were given warnings in most of the rooms that the iPad they used for clues was not working properly and that they were trying to phase it out. This is actually a positive because the rooms that it did work in really took away from the overall aesthetic. Plus it uses QR codes and literally puts the code near the puzzle. Glad they are looking to phase that out.

Large space. One part requires a crawl.
Color was an issue. Definitely impacted a puzzle later on in the game. Low light could impact players.

Overall βThe Asylumβ was our teamβs favorite game at 13th Gate Escape. We loved the size, rooms movement, and creative horrors of this gameplay. Another great creation from 13th Gate Escape!

Under normal circumstances we would have gotten out in time - itβs just that the kids were screaming through most of it. Puzzles are very good.

This was easily the best of all of the rooms at 13th Gate Escape and itβs because they finally have amazing sets mixed with great puzzles. This is a scary room! The fear is real and there arenβt even live actors but you always wonder βwhat if?β The implementation of how to receive clues is by far the best for this room and like all of their rooms it is big! If you want to get scared, but walk out saying wow that was cool! This is a great room. Most of the rooms are very disappointing except for their top-tier unbeatable jaw dropping set designs. Escape rooms are more than just sets though.
There are eight rooms at 13th Gate Escape and this was easily the best overall. Itβs scary! Itβs fun and the puzzles are doable. Something this company lacks in almost all of their rooms.
Itβs going to feel very real! The fear factor is high!

Really enjoyed this room. Itβs not scary at all, but it was fun soaking up every room. This was the best asylum we ever played

Creepy, mild horror in an old asylum. Lots to do, with a linear puzzle flow and a mix of puzzle types. The set is stellar and difficulty well-calibrated for intermediate to experienced players. Our GM was friendly and gave just the right amount of help. Loved this room.
Phenomenal set design
